An embodiment of the first source degeneration circuit includes a first resonant circuit. The current-to-voltage converter is coupled to the voltage-to-current converter, and is configured to convert the differential current to a differential output voltage. The current-to-voltage converter includes a first inverter with a first feedback circuit and a second inverter coupled to the first inverter, which includes a second feedback circuit. An embodiment of the first feedback circuit includes a second resonant circuit, and an embodiment of the second feedback circuit includes a third resonant circuit.

High-data rate channel interface modules and equalization methods employing a finite impulse response (FIR) analog receive filter. Embodiments include an illustrative channel interface module having multiple amplifier-based delay units arranged in a sequential chain to convert an analog input signal into a set of increasingly-delayed analog signals that are weighted and combined together with the analog input signal to form an equalized signal; and a symbol decision element operating on the equalized signal to obtain a sequence of symbol decisions. An interface that extracts received data from the sequence of symbol decisions. The delay units may employ one or more delay cells each having a common-source amplifier stage followed by a source follower output stage, the two stages providing approximately equal portions of the propagation delay. An enhanced gate-to-drain capacitance in the common-source amplifier may increase propagation delay while reducing bandwidth limitations.

An equalization circuit that allows particularly for lowpass filtering by transmission lines comprises a compensating equalizer controlled according to whether the edges between bits in the data waveform are early or late. Adjusting the equalization causes edges to appear in the same place, whereas if the adjustment is incorrect certain edges will be late and certain edges will be early depending on the history of “1”s and “0”s in the data stream. This is an effect of so-called intersymbol interference. The control mechanism includes circuits for recognizing patterns of “1”s and “0”s in the recent history of the data waveform whose occurrence is used to trigger the adjustment of the equalizer.
