The present invention provides a process for the preparation of sulphur cement or a sulphur cement-aggregate composite comprising the following steps:(a) admixing at least an inorganic filler and/or aggregate and a polysulphide-containing organosilane having at least two organosilyl groups and allowing the organosilane to react with the inorganic filler and/or aggregate;(b) admixing during or after step (a) elemental sulphur with the inorganic filler and/or aggregate at a temperature at which sulphur is liquid to obtain an admixture comprising molten sulphur and inorganic filler and/or aggregate; and(c) solidifying the admixture to obtain sulphur cement or a sulphur cement-aggregate composite.The invention further provides sulphur cement or a sulphur cement-aggregate composite obtainable by such process and the use of a polysulphide-containing organosilane having at least two organosilyl groups as coupling agent in sulphur cement or a sulphur cement-aggregate composite.

Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to methods and materials for fabricating building materials and other components from coal. More specifically, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to materials and other components, such as char clay plaster, char brick, and foam glass fabricated from coal, and to methods of forming such materials. In an embodiment is provided a building material fabrication method. The method includes mixing an organic solvent with coal, under solvent extraction conditions, to form a coal extraction residue, and heating the coal extraction residue under pyrolysis conditions to form a pyrolysis char, the pyrolysis conditions comprising a temperature greater than about 500° C. The method further includes mixing the pyrolysis char with water and with one or more of clay, cement, or sand to create a mixture, and molding and curing the mixture to form a building material. Pyrolysis char-containing materials are also disclosed.

A method of forming a lightweight concrete comprising lightweight aggregates (LWA) made from recycled materials and the resulting composition. The lightweight concrete may be formed by adding calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement and a specialized grout to an amount of water in a mixer, wherein a ratio of the water to the CSA cement is 1 quart to every 10 lbs of CSA cement. The CSA cement, specialized grout, and water may be blended to a smooth consistency. LWA may be added to the blended CSA cement, specialized grout, and water, wherein a ratio of the CSA cement to LWA is 60/40 by weight. The mixture of LWA, CSA cement, specialized grout, and water may be poured over a fiberglass rebar. The mixture may be allowed to cure and before being densified with a lithium densifier.

The present invention is a system for repairing asphalt. The system includes a discrete quantity of an asphalt repair composition located within a container and an induction heater. The composition is a combination of an asphalt binder, aggregate particles, and induction particles. The average diameter of the induction particles ranges from approximately 10% above to approximately 10% below an average diameter of the aggregate particles used in the composition. The induction heater heats the composition within the container by generating a magnetic field that penetrates the container. The magnetic field creates eddy currents in the induction particles. These eddy currents in turn heat the composition. Because the induction particles are distributed throughout the composition, the composition heats rapidly.
