A photoimageable, aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer comprising an anhydride, including a substituted benzophenone nucleus, a diamine reacted with the anhydride to form a photosensitive polymer intermediate, and at least 60 Mole % of solubilizing amine reacted with the photosensitive polymer intermediate to form the photoimageable, aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer. An emulsion for electrophoretic deposition of a coating of a photoimageable, aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer comprises a dispersed phase, including the photoimageable aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer, dissolved in an organic solvent and a dispersion phase including a coalescence promoter and water. The emulsion may be applied, by electrophoretic deposition, to a conductive structure to provide a photoimageable coating on the conductive structure. After exposing the coating to a pattern of radiation for photocrosslinking exposed parts of the photoimageable aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer, an aqueous acid developer solution removes unexposed photoimageable aqueous acid soluble polyimide polymer to reveal a crosslinked polyimide polymer image of the radiation pattern.

A resin composition comprising: a polyimide comprising a recurring unit represented by the following formula (1): wherein Ar0 is an aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 15 carbon atoms, and R1 is at least one group selected from the group consisting of the divalent residual group obtained by removing two amino groups from an aliphatic diamine having 2 to 30 carbon atoms and the divalent residual group obtained by removing two amino groups from an alicyclic diamine having 4 to 30 carbon atoms, and a polyarylate or polyester carbonate. This resin composition has excellent heat resistance, dimensional stability and transparency. Particularly, the resin composition having excellent transparency is advantageously used as a molded product such as a flexible printed board.

The physical properties of high performance composites can be tailored by using blends to make the composites. The resulting composites are relatively easy to make and have long-term, high performance capabilities even in harsh service conditions. The blends of the present invention include at least one oligomer having an aromatic, aliphatic, or mixed aromatic and aliphatic backbone from one chemical family and an unsaturated hydrocarbon end cap and at least one polymer from a different chemical family. Upon curing, the oligomer in the blend addition polymerize to form composites possessing advanced properties with respect to those exhibited by the pure oligomer or the pure polymer. Coreactive oligomer blends can be used instead of a pure oligomer to form composites that include addition polymers, block copolymers, and the compatible polymer, thereby further achieving a tailoring of properties in the cured composite. The blends can be prepregged and cured to form composites.

The present invention relates to a highly branched polyamide oligomer of the general formula (I) as hereinabove defined, to the process for preparing and branched oligomers and to different uses thereof. As well known to the man skilled in the art, the implementations and efficacy of the different polyamide oligomers may vary, depending on their structure and valency (reactive groups composition). Polyamide oligomers may be used, for example, as epoxy hardeners in the preparation of thermosetting compositions, as thermoplastic hot melt adhesives, as adhesion promoters and many other suitable applications. The highly branched oligomers disclosed have been shown to be highly efficient, for example, as epoxy hardeners, inter alia, in the formation of glue, lacquer, enamel or sealant mixtures.
