    摘要: A multilayer packaging structure for microwave food reheating applications or for sterilized hot filling is provided having an outer layer prepared from a blend of polyphenylene ether and a high impact polystyrene. The polyphenylene ether-high impact polystyrene layer is useful as a structural support layer and provides resistance to distortion and burn through during microwave reconstitution or hot filling. The PPE/HIPS blend layer serves to increase the high temperature performance of the coextruded structure without sacrificing the thermoformability characteristics generally associated with HIPS based monolayer or multilayer structures. The ethylene vinyl alcohol or polyvinylidene chloride layers act as the oxygen barrier to prevent food spoilage and the polyolefin layer acts as a moisture barrier.

    摘要: A resinous blend composition, and thermoplastic film structures fabricated therefrom having improved physical properties, comprising a polyolefin (e.g., polypropylene) containing a minor amount based on the weight of the polyolefin and sufficient to improve the heat sealing characteristics of films fabricated from such blends, of a normally solid, resinous, random multipolymer of a mixture comprising pentadiene, 1,3 and at least one other hydrocarbon compound containing ethylenic unsaturation copolymerizable therewith. Examples of such ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbons include cyclopentadiene, isoprene, 2methylbutene-2, tertiary butylstyrene, Beta -pinene, dipentene, Beta -phellandrene, Alpha -methylstyrene, and mixtures thereof.

    摘要: The present invention provides a block-graft copolymer of polyethylene and saponified ethylene vinyl acetate with improved moisture permeability by heating a mixture of polyethylene and a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer to an elevated temperature and kneading the mixture under pressure. The saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer has a degree of saponification of 99% or more and consists of from 30 to 50 mol percent of ethylene, the remainder being vinyl acetate, the polyethylene being a powdery high density polyethylene which has not been subjected to heating and kneading after polymerization, the mixture containing the high density polyethylene and the saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer at a weight ratio of 98:2 to 80:20 and from 0.2 to 0.6 percent by weight based on the weight of the mixture, of a radical forming catalyst, and the mixture being heated to a temperature of from 200* to 205*C and kneaded under a pressure of 330 to 470 kg/cm2.
