摘要:
This invention is directed to an improved nonwoven product comprising a nonwoven web of fibers bonded together with a sufficient amount of binder comprised of a polymer comprised of vinyl acetate, ethylene, and a crosslinking monomer to form a self-sustaining web. The improvement in the nonwoven product resides in the use of a polymer having a crystalline melting point (Tm) ranging from 35 to 90null C., preferably 50 to 80null C.; measured at a heat rate of 20null C./minute. The polymer should have a crystalline heat of fusion (Hf), which typically range from about 2 to about 50 joules per gram and a low glass transition temperature (Tg), e.g., from 10 to null40null C., typically null15 to null35null C.

The present invention is directed to a fibrous nonwoven material made of chemically bonded fibers, where the fibers are bound with a polymeric binder in an amount which is sufficient to bind the fibers together to form a self-sustaining web, and where the binder comprises from 55 to 96 percent by weight of a film-forming polymer; from 4 to 45 percent by weight of one or more opacifying agents; and 0 to 2 percent by weight of one or more adjuvants, based on the binder composition solids. The binder composition provides opacity to the nonwoven material. The binder composition is especially useful in light basis weight nonwovens, and provide high opacity and tensile strength both dry and wetted.

The composite nonwoven fabric for protective clothing of the present invention comprises (A) a water vapor-permeable, water-resistant nonwoven fabric made of polyolefin-based ultra-fine fibers having an average fiber diameter of 5 nullm or less, (B) a heat-bonding nonwoven fabric made of thermoplastic elastomer ultra-fine fibers, and (C) a porous fabric. The nonwoven fabric B is interposed between the nonwoven fabric A and the porous fabric C, and the fabrics A, B and C being integrally bonded to each other. The composite nonwoven fabric is suitable for a protective clothing because it is water vapor-permeable and water-resistant on its outer side to be exposed to outside air, and is of high strength, sweat-absorbable and antistatic on its inner side, and also well-balanced in these properties.

Disclosed is an air permeable film united with a nonwoven fabric, consisting of a polymer film having an inorganic material extruded to have a basic weight of 35 g/m2 or less and united to a partial or whole surface of a nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric having a basic weight of 50 g/m2 or less is united to one surface of the extruded polymer film in a melted state, with an air permeable region centering around a drawn mark distributed to the whole surface of a nonwoven fabric-united film rolled and drawn by a press roll. A method of preparing such an air permeable film united with a nonwoven fabric and a device for preparing the same are also described.

A pultruded composite tension rod of hexagonal cross section is provided, as are larger composite rods made up of assemblies of smaller, nested-together parallel hexagonal tension rods that are re-pultruded together. A manufacturing process involving assembling and re-pultruding the smaller rods is also disclosed.

This invention relates to a new nonwoven material which has very high Frazier permeability while having substantial hydrostatic head liquid barrier properties. The material is comprised of fibers which are approximately one denier and finer fibers which have sufficient strength properties so as not to need a support scrim. The fabric is quite comfortable because of its breathability, quite soft because of its construction, and protective from liquids from rain to hazardous chemicals.

A shrinkable protective material includes a nonwoven fabric bonded to a shrinkable film by an adhesive that is applied to either the nonwoven fabric or the shrinkable film in a pre-determined pattern. Upon shrinking, the nonwoven fabric separates or releases from the film and forms cushions or pillows holding the film off of the surface being protected. The edge portions of the cushions or pillows act as shock absorbers and deflect over the bonds, thus protecting the surface against the abrasive adhesively bonded portions.

Nonwoven substrates suitable for use as wet wipes are disclosed. The nonwoven substrates comprise at least one first region and at least one second region. The second region comprises reinforced protruding elements. In a preferred embodiment, the second region of the nonwoven substrate is reinforced by means of thermal bonding during the creation of the protruding elements of the second region. A liquid can be added to the nonwoven substrate prior to packaging or prior to use to make wet wipes. The reinforced second regions of the nonwoven substrates of the present invention make it possible to retain thickness of the wipe when wet without increasing the dry basis.

An absorbent composite sheet is thin and has a surface to be easily situated in dry condition. The absorbent composite sheet includes at least a first layer and a second layer. The first layer placed on the side of receiving a liquid is a non-woven fabric fabricated from thermoplastic synthetic resin fibers. The second layer stacked below the first layer is a non-woven fabric fabricated by entangling cellulose type fibers and thermoplastic synthetic resin fibers. The first layer and the second layer are joined by fuse bonding synthetic resin fibers of the first layer and synthetic resin fibers of the second layer. The liquid applied on a surface of the first layer is transferred to the second layer through gaps between synthetic resin fibers of the first layer.

A bicomponent sheath core fiber is used to make a polymeric non-woven material having textile qualities. The sheath is an oriented polymer and the core is a polymer that flows or melts at a temperature lower than the melting point of the sheath. Non-woven mats are made of these fibers by treating the mat so that the core material melts, flows, and bonds to adjacent fibers in the non-woven mat. The non-woven material may have the qualities of a synthetic leather.
