Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to provide a water permeating agent, which imparts water permeability durable against repeated water permeation, and sufficient fiber cohesion to binder fibers, which are processed into textile products, such as nonwovens; said water permeating agent comprises a (poly)alkyl polyalkylenepolyamine amide and a trialkylglycine derivative.
Abstract:
A water absorptive fabric including a layer of a water absorptive polymer whose major components consist of a cross-linked poly(metal salt of acrylic acid) and a water-soluble resin. The fabric may be produced by first impregnating a fabric substrate with a solution which contains a metal salt of acrylic acid in the form of a monomer, a cross-linking agent and a water-soluble resin, and then heating the impregnated fabric substrate to thereby copolymerize the monomer and the cross-linking agent, in the presence of the water-soluble resin.
Abstract:
Described are heat-activatable promoters for treating the surfaces of metals or synthetic materials (plastics) prior to bonding, containingfrom 0.1 to 10% by weight of a carbonyl compound having at least one activated double bond, from 5 to 30% by weight of a polymer having functional groups, from 0 to 10% by weight of further auxiliary materials, as well asone or more organic solvent(s) to make 100% by weight. The invention further relates to a process for producing the heat-activatable adhesion promoter and the use thereof for the surface treatment of polymer fibers.
Abstract:
There is provided a process for preparing a water absorptive composite, which comprises the combination of the steps of (A) applying an aqueous solution containing (a) a polymerizable monomer comprising as a main component acrylic acid, of which 20% or more of the carboxyl groups have been neutralized to its alkali metal salt or ammonium salt, (b) a crosslinking agent, (c) a polyoxyethylene acyl ester with HLB of 7 or more and (d) an oxidative radical polymerization initiator to a prefabricated fibrous substrate and (B) polymerizing the polymerizable monomer applied to the fibrous substrate with addition of a reducing agent to form a composite of a polymer derived from the polymerizable monomer and the fibrous substrate.
Abstract:
Dyeing or finishing process characterized in that textile materials are impregnated in a padding machine with aqueous dyeing or finishing baths which contain, besides graft polymers, which may be obtained from a product of addition of an alkylene oxide to an at least trivalent aliphatic alcohol containing from 3 to 10 carbon atoms and methacrylamide or acrylamide, and in that the fixing of the dyes or of the finish is then performed continuously by a treatment with microwaves for 5 to 30 seconds. The process permits an excess water input on all the textile materials and a rapid fixing by the microwaves.
Abstract:
A non-woven product is prepared in which a fiber or fabric is bound by a binder containing an aqueous copolymer emulsion which contains a first polymer network which is intertwined on a molecular scale with a second polymer network.
Abstract:
A process for imparting hydrophilicity to fabric which comprises treating the fabric with a composition comprising a copolymer of an N-(oxymethyl)-acrylamide grafted onto a poly(oxyalkylene) backbone and an acid catalyst to facilitate cross-linking of the graft copolymer on the fabric surface and drying said fabric at a temperature sufficient to cure the graft copolymer.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a process for imparting to cellulose or cellulose-containing textile materials durable press properties by treating cellulose or cellulose-containing textile materials by applying to the textile materials a treating composition of (a) about 1-25% by weight, based on dry weight of the material, of an activated water-soluble bisvinyl compound and (b) about 0.2-25% by weight, based on dry weight of material, of (1) a copolymer having a Tg
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for hardening watersoluble polymers, especially gelatine in the form of photographic emulsions with bis-acryloylimide. This hardener combines low molecular weight with a very great hardening capacity.
