In one implementation, a system includes: an internal combustion engine, wherein the internal combustion engine has a combustion chamber for burning a fossil fuel, an electrolysis chamber for producing hydrogen gas and oxygen gas, a turbocharger, a supply line connecting a compressor of the turbocharger to the combustion chamber, the supply line designed to convey a gas mixture including at least a part of the hydrogen gas and the oxygen gas to the combustion chamber, a gasification tank with volatile organic compounds received therein, and an air supply for supplying compressed air into the gasification tank, wherein the gas mixture, which is guided via the supply line to the combustion chamber, also includes gasified organic compounds from the gasification tank.

    摘要: Reduction of NO.sub.x emissions from a four-cycle stratified charge internal combustion piston engine is accomplished by (a) spark ignition of a rich mixture in a first chamber containing residual exhaust gas, followed by (b) torch ignition of rich mixture in a second chamber under turbulent conditions, causing (c) torch ignition of a stratified charge in a lean mixture in the main combustion chamber. The result is a reduction in peak temperature in the combustion process, with consequent reduction in NO.sub.x emissions in the engine exhaust gases. Exhaust gas is not recirculated. Said first chamber, which contains residual gas from the previous combustion cycle, contains the spark gap between spark plug electrodes and the spark gap is located near a restricted connection between the first and second chambers and remote from a closed end of the first chamber. Means are provided for changing the volume of said first chamber while the engine is operating, in accordance with variations in load on the engine.

    摘要: An intake adaption system for internal combustion engines of vehicles employing an aftermarket intake air assembly including high capacity intake ducting and a low resistance air filter. Intake air sensors provide intake air condition signals of filtered intake air to the engine. A CPU includes a routine for modifying the intake air condition signals of the filtered intake air to the ECM. Tables alter the appropriate sensor signal or signals to correct for the calibration and predictions made by the ECM based on the original equipment. A first table translates the intake air condition signals from the intake air sensors indicative of MAF into the engine to provide actual MAF into the engine. A second table generates a pressure offset responsive to MAF into the engine to provide the ECM with a lower pressure value than actual, avoiding a diagnostic trouble code.

    摘要: A ship propulsion system is disclosed comprising an internal combustion engine for driving a ship, wherein the internal combustion engine comprises a combustion chamber for combusting fossil fuel, a supply line for delivering a gas mixture to the combustion chamber, an electrolysis chamber for producing hydrogen gas and oxygen gas, and a vacuum pump for sucking the hydrogen gas and the oxygen gas from the electrolysis chamber. The ship propulsion system furthermore comprises a gasification tank with volatile organic compounds received therein, in particular methanol or ethanol, as well as a supply line for supplying a gas mixture to the combustion chamber, wherein the gas mixture comprises gasified organic compounds from the gasification tank and at least a part of the hydrogen gas and the oxygen gas. Furthermore a corresponding method for operation a ship propulsion system is disclosed.

    摘要: An ocean thermal energy conversion facility includes a long pipe assembly which is supported at its upper end by the hull of the floating facility. Cold water flows to the facility from deep in the ocean. The pipe assembly comprises an elongate pipe construction and a weight connected to the lower end of the construction by a line of selected length. A floatation collar is connected to the construction at its upper end to cause the construction to have positive buoyancy and a center of buoyancy closer to the upper end of the construction than its center of mass. The weight renders the entire pipe assembly negatively buoyant. In the event that support of the pipe assembly should be lost, as by release of the assembly from the facility hull in an emergency, the assembly sinks to the ocean floor where it is moored by the weight. The pipe construction floats submerged above the ocean floor in a substantially vertical attitude which facilitates recovery of the assembly.

    摘要: Embodiments for determining oxygen concentration using an oxygen sensor are provided. In one example, a method for determining oxygen concentration O2 in a gas flow of an internal combustion engine which is equipped with an engine controller and an oxygen sensor comprises determining the oxygen concentration O2,sens of the gas flow in a ceramic measurement cell of the sensor by current ISens which is detected by measurement and which flows when a constant voltage USens is applied and maintained, and correcting the oxygen concentration based on a pressure pSens at the measurement cell. In this way, the measured oxygen concentration may be corrected based on the pressure of the air at the sensor.
