摘要: Systems and methods for treated exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) for an internal combustion engine are disclosed. The internal combustion engine has an exhaust manifold discharging exhaust gas and an intake manifold receiving forced air from a compressor. One or more exhaust treatment devices treat the exhaust gas and produce a treated exhaust gas. The EGR system includes an EGR line downstream of the one or more exhaust treatment devices and connected to the engine intake line downstream of the compressor, wherein the treated EGR line recirculates the treated exhaust gas to the intake manifold of the engine without passing through the compressor.

摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation system includes a first turbocharger and a second turbocharger connected in series. An outlet of a turbine of the second turbocharger is connected to an exhaust pipe. An inlet of a compressor of the second turbocharger is connected to the exhaust pipe by means of an EGR gas collection pipe, and an outlet of the compressor of the second turbocharger is connected to an intake manifold by means of a low-pressure EGR exhaust pipe. The system employs energy of exhaust gas to drive turbines of a two-stage turbocharging system, thereby increasing utilization of the exhaust gas and improving the economic efficiency of an engine. An engine is also disclosed.

摘要: An internal combustion engine has a plurality of engine units, each having a working space, in which two rotary pistons are arranged so as mesh with each other and thereby divide the working space into an inflow region and an outflow region. Each engine unit has a closable inlet opening to the inflow region and a closable exhaust gas outlet opening. The internal combustion engine further includes a feed-line pipe to the inlet openings and an exhaust gas collection pipe connected to the exhaust gas outlet openings, so that the engine units are connected in parallel with each other. The internal combustion engine further includes exhaust gas lines which connect the engine units with each other in series. In certain cases, a control device operates some of the engine units either as internal combustion engines, or as expansion engines.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for calibrating an effective area associated with an exhaust gas recirculation valve and/or a variable orifice associated with the exhaust gas recirculation valve. In one example, a method may include attaining a first steady-state intake pressure with the exhaust gas recirculation valve closed, determining a second steady-state intake pressure and a differential pressure across the variable orifice with the exhaust gas recirculation valve open, and estimating the variable orifice effective area based on the second steady-state intake pressure and the differential pressure. In this way, a calibration table may be updated for an exhaust gas recirculation control apparatus that includes an exhaust gas recirculation valve and a variable orifice, such that an actual amount of recirculated exhaust gas reflects a commanded amount.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for adjusting operation of a split exhaust engine system based on a total flow of gases through a scavenge exhaust gas recirculation system of the split exhaust engine system. In one example, a method may include setting a cam timing correction based on a difference between a first value and a second value of a flow through an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) passage, the first value determined based on a first parameter set including a cylinder valve overlap area and the second value determined based on a second parameter set not including the cylinder valve overlap area, and operating at least one of an intake cam and an exhaust cam at a corrected timing using the cam timing correction. In this way, the flow through the EGR passage may be adjusted even without active control of a valve coupled in the EGR passage.

In one example, a flow of exhaust (e.g., exhaust gas recirculation) from engine cylinders to the intake passage, upstream of a compressor, via an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) passage and the first exhaust manifold may be adjusted by adjusting a timing of a first set of cylinder exhaust valves coupled to the first exhaust manifold. Additionally, the first set of cylinder exhaust valves open at a different time than a second set of cylinder exhaust valves coupled to the exhaust passage.
