Abstract:
A computerized method of representing a dataset with an optimal layer of a taxonomy includes obtaining a taxonomy including a hierarchical arrangement of layers, wherein each layer represents a cluster set containing at least one cluster, wherein each cluster represents at least one record within a dataset; identifying a range of taxonomy layers based on a measure of intra-cluster homogeneity of each cluster within the taxonomy; selecting a taxonomy layer within the identified range as an optimal layer of the taxonomy, the selecting being based on a measure of inter-cluster heterogeneity between clusters of a taxonomy layer within the identified range; and labeling clusters within the optimal layer of the taxonomy.
Abstract:
A method for performing a single-qubit gate on an arbitrary quantum state. An ancillary qubit is set to an initial state |I>. The data qubit is coupled to an ancillary qubit. The state of the ancillary qubit is measured, and the data qubit and the ancillary qubit are coupled for a first period of time. A method for applying a single-qubit gate to an arbitrary quantum state. A state of a first and second ancillary qubit are set to an entangled initial state |I>. A state of a data qubit and the first ancillary qubit are measured thereby potentially performing a single qubit operation on the arbitrary quantum state. A first result is determined. The first result indicates whether the single qubit operation applied the single qubit gate to the arbitrary quantum state.

Abstract:
This invention concerns a method and system for single ion doping and machining by detecting the impact, penetration and stopping of single ions in a substrate. Such detection is essential for the successful implantation of a counted number of 31P ions into a semi-conductor substrate for construction of a Kane quantum computer. The invention particularly concerns the application of a potential across two electrodes on the surface of the substrate to create a field to separate and sweep out electron-hole pairs formed within the substrate. A detector is then used to detecting transient current in the electrodes, and so determine the arrival of a single ion in the substrate.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and system for managing a plurality of multi-field classification rules. The method includes providing a first table that includes a plurality of entries corresponding to a plurality of rules relating to an ingress context and providing a second table that includes a plurality of entries corresponding to a plurality of rules relating to an egress context. The method also includes utilizing the first table and the second table to identify any rules relating to the ingress context and any rules relating to the egress context that match a search key.

Abstract:
A real time kernel for deploying health monitoring functions in Condition Base Maintenance (CBM) and Real Time Monitoring (RTM) systems is disclosed in this invention. The Optimized Neuro Genetic Fast Estimator (ONGFE) allows embedding failure detection, identification, and prognostics (FDI&P) capability by using Intelligent Software Element (ISE) based upon Artificial Neural Network (ANN). ONGFE enables embedded fast and on-line training for designing ANNs, which perform very high performance FDI&P functions. An advantage is the optimization block based on pseudogenetic algorithms, which compensate for effects due to initial weight values and local minimums without the computational burden of genetic algorithms. It provides a synchronization block for communication with secondary diagnostic modules. Also a scheme for conducting sensor data validation is embedded in Smart Sensors (SS). The algorithms are designed for a distributed, scalar, and modular deployment. The system electronics is built upon a network of smart sensors and a health monitoring computer for providing data acquisition capability and distributed computational power.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for providing a web service agent application. The web service agent application has a communication module and a processing module. The communication module receives requests from one or more web service applications or one or more adaptive agent applications; and transmits responses to one or more web service applications or one or more adaptive agent applications. The processing module receives a request for information from the communication module; identifies a resource that can fulfill the request for information; obtains a response to the request from the identified resource; and delivers the response to the request to the communication module.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described that facilitate assisting a user in filling forms. The invention can parse untagged media, such as email, etc., to identify elements that can be employed to populate a form. Identified elements can be automatically inserted into corresponding fields in a form, and status indicators can be associated therewith and indicated to a user in order to alert the user that review of a particular field in the form is warranted. Additionally, the untagged media and the form can be concurrently presented to the user to facilitate user supervision and/or interaction during assisted form filling.
