    摘要: An evacuated cavity is hermetically sealed between a baseplate and faceplate of a flat panel display. Melting a glass powder, or frit, on the perimeter of the viewing area forms the hermetic seal. After melting the frit, a first fluid is circulated through the cavity to speed cooling. To further expedite the cooling of the flat panel display, a second fluid flows externally along the contour of the flat panel display to insure that the cooling is uniform and thereby avoid thermal shock.

    摘要: A discharge lamp is disclosed comprising an enclosed discharge vessel for the generation of an electrical discharge and a casing made of glass which surrounds the discharge vessel. In order to achieve as constant properties as possible over the service life of the lamp, it is proposed that the glass material of the casing be doped with sodium in a concentration of at least 10 ppm, and preferably at least 30 ppm. According to a further embodiment, it is proposed that other alkali metals (except for sodium) be contained in a maximum concentration of 25 ppm. Surprisingly, by the appropriate choice of the outer bulb, not in direct contact with the actual discharge, the diffusion of sodium from the discharge vessel is reduced. In addition to this, the material of the outer bulb has a reduced inclination to crystallization.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a lamp device using a high-pressure vapor discharge lamp, particularly to an improvement for controlling the influence of the generation of heat, which accompanies an increase in lamp power and a reduction in the size of a reflector. A lamp device of the present invention comprises a discharge lamp having an arc tube enclosing luminescent materials and having a pair of opposing electrodes disposed therein and a pair of sealed portions extending from the arc tube; a reflector which reflects light radiated by the discharge lamp; a transparent member covering an open end of the reflector and accommodating the discharge lamp in a space between the transparent member and the reflector; and means for preventing an excessive temperature rise wherein the temperature rise of welded parts of wiring members electrically connected to the electrodes of the discharge lamp is restricted.

The ultraviolet lamp assembly comprises an ultraviolet lamp, a tube operative to house the ultraviolet lamp and comprising a closed end, an open end able to allow insertion of said ultraviolet lamp and having a plurality of vents that allow air into and out of an air space between the ultraviolet lamp and the surrounding tube, a tube divider operatively disposed between said UV lamp and said tube to thereby divide said air space into at least two air space compartments enabling air to circulate through said tube, and an air displacer operatively connected to at least one of said vents and able to produce air flow in said tube.

    摘要: In a conventional electrodeless discharge lamp, a large amount of magnetic field leaks from at light-transparent envelope, and the efficiency of conversion from electric power to light energy is low. In a electrodeless discharge lamp in which light-emitting gases in a light-transparent envelope are excited with a magnetic field generated from a coil, end portions of a magnetic material included in the coil are substantially axially disposed in the light-transparent envelope. As a result, the magnetic flux which leaks outside the light-transparent envelope is decreased so the density of the magnetic flux in the envelope is increased and the efficiency of the lamp is improved.

    摘要: An HID lamp utilizes a wire frame member having an integral coil with spaces between windings to relieve thermal stress and provide shock absorption in a ceramic metal halide discharge lamp mounted concentrically in an elliptical-dimple (ED-type) glass envelope. The wire frame member has a first end welded to a current carrying support member embedded in the stem and a second end welded to an upper axial lead of the arc tube, the coil being situated about the dimple. The lower axial lead fixed relative to a second current carrying support member embedded in the stem, so that the coil compresses when the arc tube expands relative to the wire frame member.
