Abstract:
Embodiments of a radially collapsible and expandable prosthetic heart valve are disclosed. A valve frame can have a tapered profile when mounted on a delivery shaft, with an inflow end portion having a smaller diameter than an outflow end portion. The valve can comprise generally V-shaped leaflets, reducing material within the inflow end of the frame. An outer skirt can be secured to the outside of the inflow end portion of the frame, the outer skirt having longitudinal slack when the valve is expanded and lying flat against the frame when the valve is collapsed. A diagonally woven inner skirt can elongate axially with the frame. Side tabs of adjacent leaflets can extend through and be secured to window frame portions of the frame to form commissures. The window frame portions can be depressed radially inward relative to surrounding frame portions when the valve is crimped onto a delivery shaft.
Abstract:
A material stack (12) is provided comprising one or more films (14) that have a crack velocity of about IE- 10 m/sec or greater and at least one monolayer (16) within or in direct contact with the one or more films (14), wherein the at least one monolayer (16) reduces the crack velocity of the material stack (12) to a value of less than lE-10 m/sec. The one or more films ( 14) are not limited to low k dielectrics, but may include materials such as a metal. In a preferred embodiment, a low k dielectric stack (12) is provided, having an effective dielectric constant k, of about 3.0 or less, in which the mechanical properties of the stack (12) are improved by introducing at least one nanolayer (16) into the dielectric stack (12). The improvement in mechanical properties is achieved without significantly increasing the dielectric constant of me films within the stack (12) and without the need of subjecting the inventive dielectric stack (12) to any post treatment steps.
Abstract:
A prosthetic mitral valve assembly is disclosed. In certain disclosed embodiments, the prosthetic mitral valve assembly has a flared upper end and a tapered portion to fit the contours of the native mitral valve. The prosthetic mitral valve assembly includes a stent or outer support frame with a valve mounted therein. The assembly can be adapted to expand radially outwardly and into contact with the native tissue to create a pressure fit. The mitral valve assembly further includes tension members between the leaflets of the valve assembly and a suitable location on the heart.
Abstract:
A porous low k or ultra low k dielectric film comprising atoms of Si, C, O and H (hereinafter "SiCOH") in a covalently bonded tri-dimensional network structure having a dielectric constant of less than about 3.0, a higher degree of crystalline bonding interactions, more carbon as methyl termination groups and fewer methylene, -CH 2 - crosslinking groups than prior art SiCOH dielectrics is provided. The SiCOH dielectric is characterized as having a FTIR spectrum comprising a peak area for CH 3 +CH 2 stretching of less than about 1.40, a peak area for SiH stretching of less than about 0.20, a peak area for SiCH 3 bonding of greater than about 2.0, and a peak area for Si-O-Si bonding of greater than about 60%, and a porosity of greater than about 20%.
Abstract:
The document discloses a stretchable packaging system for a wearable electronic device. The system includes a first electronic component and a flexible trace connected to the first electronic component. An elastomer layer having a variable thickness at least partially encapsulates the first electronic component and the flexible trace. A first region of the layer has a first thickness that is greater than a second thickness of a second region of the layer that at least partially encapsulates the trace.

Abstract:
A prosthetic mitral valve assembly and method of inserting the same is disclosed. In certain disclosed embodiments, the prosthetic mitral valve assembly includes a stent and valve combination. The stent is designed so that the anchoring portion is positioned above the annulus of the mitral valve and in the left atrium. The stent is radially expandable so that it can expand into position against the walls of the left atrium and accommodate a wide range of anatomies. Contact between the stent and the native tissue in the left atrium reduces paravalvular leakage and prevents migration of the stent once in place.
