Abstract:
A method of manufacturing products comprising an outer casing of a first material (12) and containing at least one chamber (18) filled with a second material (14) comprises extruding the first material through a die (10) to form an extrudate body (16) and delivering the second material through at least one fluid outlet (22) in the die to form the least one filled chamber. The extrusion process is varied periodically and momentarily to produce sections (30) of extrudate body having no filled chamber. In one embodiment, the flow of the second material (14) is periodically reduced to form the unfilled sections. The flow of the second material (14) may be reduced by increasing the volume of a supply path for the second material upstream from the die (10). Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed. The method and apparatus are particularly adapted for producing food, and especially confectionery, products.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for the continuous production, processing and packaging of a final chewing gum product. The product is extruded as a continuous tape or ribbon (44) of material, the material is flattened into an approximate final cross-sectional size and shape, and then inserted into a final sizing apparatus (48). The sizing apparatus maintains the gum product in its final cross-sectional size and shape. Thereafter, the continuous strip of final chewing gum product is scored, cut into individual pieces, and individually wrapped by a standard packaging machine (49-50). The individually wrapped pieces of gum can then be assembled into sets and packaged into packs of gum.
Abstract:
A method and means of implementing said method are described for producing a sphere of a paste-like substance such as icecream. The method involves taking the substance (1) in a cylindrical tube (2) with semispherical end (3) and nipping the tube at a distance dŸ- from its end substantially equal to its diameter to form a ball (6) of the substance, simultaneously expelling the ball (6) against the nipped portion, which can expand under the thrust of the expelled ball (6) and reclose the semi-spherical end (3) for the next cycle. Application in preparing balls of icecream or water ice in particular.
Abstract:
A method of extruding products comprises varying the rate of flow of at least one material (12) through an extrusion aperture in a die (10). The method may be used to produce an extrudate body (16) whose cross-sectional area varies along its length or to produce an extrudate body comprising two or more different materials in which the proportions of the materials varies along its length. Apparatus (11) for carrying out the method comprises an extrusion die (10) defining an extrusion aperture and a material delivery system for delivering the material(s) to the die in a suitable condition for extrusion. A control system is operative to vary the rate of flow of the material. The control system may comprise a flow control mechanism (240) in a supply path for the first material upstream from the die (10). The flow control mechanism (240) may be operative to vary the volume of the supply path and may comprise a fluid actuated resiliently deformable flexible element. The method and apparatus are particularly suited for manufacturing food products, especially confectionery products such as chocolate bars.
Abstract:
This invention relates to processes and devices for shaping and decorating of food products, in a continuous and discontinuous way, said products being converted firom fluid state into solid or gelatinized state through cooling, gelatinizing, foamy gelatinizing, coagulating, then by cutting, coating and adding printed and non-printed decorating tiles and by sprinkling with edible sprinkle.
Abstract:
An effervescent candy bar of a syrup-based malleable and chewable component comprising at least two masses at least one of which contains acid and at least one contains alkali and a method for its preparation.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming confectionery pieces including an extruder for extruding confectionery mix through extrusion apertures, a blade rotatable transverse to the direction of extrusion has an outer portion adapted to effect a shearing of the mix as it is extruded out of the extrusion aperture. A recess is provided on either side of the outer portions to prevent deformation of the confectionery pieces formed.
Abstract:
In the production of extruded icecream bodies it is customary to cut the bodies from an extruded string of icecream when the latter, laying on a conveyor belt, has reached a ''medium frozen'' condition, whereafter the bodies are transferred to a faster moving conveyor, on which they are moved through a hard-freezing zone with a desired mutual spacing between the bodies. According to the invention several advantages are obtained by arranging for the extruded string (6) to run unbroken through a continuous freezing zone, when only constrictions or notches (12) have been provided in the string by transversely moved tool means (8, 20, 22) while the ice substance is still formable; after the hard-freezing of the string the single bodies (P) are separated from the string by a simple successive breaking action on the front end of the string, and the desired distance between the individual bodies can be produced by letting the bodies fall down onto a conveyor (18) moving at increased speed.
Abstract:
A method of forming an oral product includes extruding a mixture, conveying the extruded mixture through one or more pairs of forming rollers, and cutting the extruded mixture into one or more oral products. The mixture can include polymer and at least one flavorant, sweetener, active ingredient, or combination thereof. The extruded mixture forms an extrudate having a predetermined cross-sectional shape. The one or more pairs of forming rollers abut to define a passage there between as each forming roller rotates. The passage has a cross-sectional shape corresponding to the predetermined cross-sectional shape. The method can be performed using a machine including an extruder, one or more pairs of forming rollers, and a cutting device.
Abstract:
A method for producing a confectionary product (1), comprises the steps of extruding a confectionary substance to form a confectionary string, shearing an end portion (5) from a remaining part (7) of the confectionary string (2), resting the end portion (5) on a conveying surface (8) already before the separation of the end portion (5) and completing the separation of the end portion (5) from the remaining part (7) of the confectionary string (2) while the end portion (5) is resting on the conveying surface ( 8 ).
