The present invention relates to a thermoplastic block copolymer comprising at least one PA block and at least one PB block. The PA block represents a polymer block comprising one or more units of monomer A, and the PB block represents a polymer block comprising one or more units of monomer B, Monomer A is a vinyl, acrylic, diolefm, niirile, dinitrile, acrylonitrile monomer, a monomer with reactive functionality, or a crosslinking monomer. Monomer B is a radically polymerizable triglyceride or mixtures thereof, typically in the form of a plant or animal oil. The present invention aiso relates to a method of preparing a thermoplastic block copolymer or novel thermoplastic statistical copolymers by polymerizing a radically polymerizable monomer with a radically polymerizable triglyceride or mixtures thereof via reversible addition-fragmentation chain-transfer polymerization (RAFT), in the presence of an free radical initiator and a chain transfer agent.

Beschrieben wird die Verwendung synthetischer Klebstoffe für die Herstellung von Wellpappe bei relativ niedrigen Temperaturen und hohen Bahngeschwindigkeiten. Die Wellpappe weist eine gewellte Papierbahn und eine glatte Deckbahn auf und die Wellung der gewellten Papierbahn wird bei Papiertemperaturen unterhalb von 95°C und mit einer Bahngeschwindigkeit von größer 150 m/min erzeugt. Unmittelbar nach Erzeugung der Wellung der gewellten Papierbahn wird in einem kontinuierlichen Prozess ein vorzugsweise nicht erwärmter Wellklebstoff aufgetragen und die gewellte Papierbahn mit mindestens einer ersten Deckbahn verklebt. Als Wellklebstoff wird eine wässrige Klebstoffdispersion auf Basis mindestens eines synthetischen, dispergierten Polymeren mit vorzugsweise mehr als 40 Gew.% Feststoffgehalt eingesetzt, ausgewählt aus Acrylatcopolymeren, Copolymerisaten aus Vinylaromaten und konjugierten aliphatischen Dienen und Vinylacetat/Alkylen Copolymeren, wobei die Glasübergangstemperaturen der Polymere größer 20 °C sind und (vorzugsweise mindestens 5°C) unterhalb der Oberflächentemperatur der gewellten Papierbahn, auf die sie aufgetragen werden, liegen.

Optical adhesives that also diffuse visible light include a blend of an adhesive matrix which is an optical adhesive and a block copolymer. The adhesive may be a pressure sensitive adhesive and contains either acid or basic functionality. The block copolymer, which may be a diblock copolymer, contains a high Tg block and a functional block, the functionality of the functional block is complimentary to the functionality of the adhesive matrix to form an acid-base interaction. The adhesive may also contain a crosslinking agent.

The peelable coating can comprise a base layer (120) that is releasably peelably applied atop the surface substrate (110); a reinforcement layer (130) located atop the base layer; and a bond layer (140) applied atop the reinforcement layer for bonding through the reinforcement layer to the base layer. The coating is particularly useful for protecting floor substrates in the construction industry. The base layer may comprise natural or styrene-butadiene rubber, the reinforcement layer may be a fibreglass mesh or a biodegradable natural fibre such as jute or hession, and the bond layer may be selected from acrylic, styrene acrylic, carboxylated styrene butadiene or polyurethane resin dispersions.

A film-to-film laminate, comprising first and second sheets of film adhered by an adhesive agent comprising an adhesive polymer, which is produced from a monomer mixture, comprising: a) from 80 to 98% by weight of main monomers selected from C1 - to C12-alkyl (meth)acrylates and vinylaromatic monomers; b) from 1 to 10% by weight of vinyl acetate; c) from 0,2 to 5% by weight of hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates; d) from 0 to 3% by weight of (meth)acrylic acid; e) from 0 to 5 % by weight of further functional monomers; wherein the weight ratio of vinyl acetate to hydroxy substituted unsaturated monomers is from 1 :4 to 40:1. Also described is a method of forming said laminate and an aqueous polymer dispersion suitable as film-to-film lamination adhesive agent for forming said laminate. The adhesive agent preferably is a single-component adhesive agent.

The invention provides a method of preparing an aqueous dispersion of vesiculated polymer particles, the method comprising: preparing a dispersion of polymerisable particles within a continuous aqueous phase, the polymerisable particles having a structure that is defined by an outer organic phase that comprises one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers and surrounds an inner aqueous phase, said inner aqueous phase defining a single void within the polymerisable particle, wherein a RAFT agent functions as a stabiliser for the outer organic phase within the continuous aqueous phase, and wherein a RAFT agent functions as a stabiliser for the inner aqueous phase within the outer organic phase; and polymerising the one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers under the control of a RAFT agent functioning as said stabiliser to form the aqueous dispersion of vesiculated polymer particles.
