Abstract:
Oil compositions derived from transgenic soybeans having a high concentration of oleic acid are described for use in various applications including use to enhance the low temperature pour characteristics of engine fluids. Such oil compositions are useful as lubricants, rail curve grease and engine penetrants.
Abstract:

Abstract:
An oil composition for cutting and grinding by ultra low volume oil feed system, comprising ester, sulfuric compound, and/or phosphorus compound, whereby a working efficiency, a tool life, and easiness of handling can be increased in a method of cutting and grinding by ultra low volume oil feed system.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a hydroforming process for metal parts that uses liquid-film and solid-film lubricants. The lubricants used in the invention are particularly useful for die-side lubrication. The process includes a step in which a ductile metal part is over-coated with either the liquid-film or solid-film lubricant. The liquid lubricants preferably include an oil and optionally a surfactant. The solid lubricants preferably include a hard wax and optionally a surfactant.
Abstract:
A grease composition for use as a cable filling material which contains about 25 to 75 parts by weight of castor oil or a ricinoleate polyol, about 13 to 71 parts by weight of a hydroxy-terminated polymer of polymerized castor oil or the reaction product of a polyisocyanate compound and castor oil or a ricinoleate polyol, and about 4 to 12 parts by weight of colloidal particles such as silica, clay or mixtures thereof. Optionally, an antioxidant component can be added to impart high temperature resistance, a bleed inhibitor, typically of a rubber component, can be added to improve bleed resistance, a water blocking agent of a superabsorbent compound can be added to reduce water transmission, microspheres can be added to reduce the weight of the formulation, and/or conventional additives such as fungicides, bacteriocides etc. can be included. The invention also relates to an article of manufacture such as a cable having a sheath surrounding a plurality of optical fibers therein, with one of the grease compositions of the invention located therein.
Abstract:
A method of producing an antioxidant containing derivatives of an organic compound, and in particular, an antioxidant glyceride derivative, comprises reacting a first compound with a second medium. By this reaction, a product is formed whereby an active component of the first compound, e.g., an antioxidant moiety, is covalently incorporated into the second medium. The second medium comprises glyceride derivatives, silicones, fluorocarbons and alkoxylates containing reactive groups such as hydroxy, amino, carboxyl, ester, or amides.
Abstract:
Hydraulic fluids based on natural triglycerides. The base composition for these hydraulic fluids consists of at least one natural triglyceride and one anti-oxidant additive. The triglyceride suitable for the composition can be defined as an ester of a straight-chain C10 to C22 fatty acid and glycerol which has an iodine number of between 50 and 128. The fraction of the anti-oxidant additives is selected preferably among hindered phenolics and aromatic amines, but can be completed by compounds selected from metal salts of dithioacids, phosphites, sulfides, amides, non-aromatic amines, hydrazides and triazols. Preferred amount of the anti-oxidant(s) in the fluid is 1.5 to 4.5 percent by weight.
