Small-diameter suture materials and suture coating materials made from the twisting or braiding of biocompatible polymeric fibers have been developed, which support drug delivery and maintain a high tensile strength. The fibers entrap (e.g., encapsulate) one or more therapeutic, prophylactic or diagnostic agents and provide prolonged release over a period of at least a week, preferably a month. While monofilament fibers lose tensile strength with the inclusion of active agents, twisting the drug-loaded, multifilament fibers allows for an increase in the tensile strength for the overall composites, while still retaining a small diameter. The methods of making these materials and using them for ocular surgery and vasculature repair have also been developed.

Described herein is the application of centrifugal spinning to provide a polypropylene (PP) nanofiber environment for cell growth. PP nanofiber mats, formed by centrifugal spinning are treated with one or more antimicrobial agents. The treated PP material was shown to have a 10 reduced rate of rejection and promote cell growth and proliferation.

According to the present invention, provided is the tissue adhesion prevention material in the form of the non-woven fabric and the method for manufacturing same, comprising the steps of: preparing a crude liquid for the material for the tissue adhesion prevention material by first preparing a poly octylcyanoacrylate mixture by adding poly octylcyanoacrylate to an organic solvent and mixing same, and adding a hydrophilic polymer, the antibiotic, or the anti-inflammatory to the poly octylcyanoacrylate mixture and mixing same; and obtaining the tissue adhesion prevention material in the form of the non-woven fabric by electrospinning the crude liquid for the tissue adhesion prevention material.
