Abstract:
A method for configuring service settings for a mobile subscriber (18) in a mobile communication network wherein the mobile subscriber (18) is associated with a first instant communication client (1) which is adapted to communicate via an instant messaging protocol with an instant communication server (3), and wherein the instant communication server (3) is associated to a mobile switching center (2) of the mobile communication network, the method comprises the following steps: -sending, by the first instant communication client (1), an instant service command via the instant communication server (3) to a second instant communication client (50), associated with the mobile switching center (2); -converting, by the mobile switching center (2), the instant service command into a service setting message; -sending the service setting message to a user database (4) to modify service settings for the mobile subscriber (18).
Abstract:
A client system submits a request to the first instant messaging system to access the first instant messaging service. The request includes an online identity that is associated with a second instant messaging system. The first instant messaging system communicates with the second instant messaging system to enable authentication of the online identity, manage the routing of traffic to the online identity, and manage presence of the online identity, among other features.
Abstract:
A communication system for establishing the connection between a telephone terminal and an instant messaging (IM) client is provided, which comprises: a telephone terminal, for transmitting call signals; a forwarding server, for receiving the call signals transmitted by the telephone terminal, determining the IM client requiring communication connection with the telephone terminal according to the IM client's identifier included in the call signal, generating the connection request message, and transmitting the connection request message to the IM client. A forwarding server, comprises an information transmitting/receiving unit and a processing unit, wherein the information transmitting/receiving unit is used to receive call signals transmitted by the telephone terminal, and transmit the connection request message from the processing unit to the IM client which is determined by the processing unit; the processing unit is used to determine the IM client requiring communication connection with the telephone terminal according to the IM client's identifier included in the call signal, generate a connection request message, and control the information transmitting/receiving unit to transmit the connection request message to the said IM client.
Abstract:
A method for providing a camp-on hold service comprises detecting a hold condition between a first user and a second user and establishing a call hold by placing the call on hold. The method also comprises receiving a request from the second user to camp-on to the call hold and monitoring the status of the first user during the call hold. The method also comprises receiving an indication that the first user is available to continue communications with the second user and notifying the second user that the first user is available to continue communications with the second user.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for telecommunications operations and controls include (1) an enhanced text message process or methodology that allows a remote user who does not have, already installed, a specialized voice telephony program to nevertheless place and participate in a voice call, (2) call admission control using a “degrees of separation” metric, (3) real time controlled sharing of contact (buddy) lists, (4) multi-service instance messaging conferences, and (5) “meta buddies” or buddy lists that can be automatically imported and made part of a user's own buddy list.
Abstract:
A communication assistance system (Fig. 1) is provided having a first database (18, 18') with a plurality of listings, each listing having at least one contact name and a corresponding contact number. A switching device (12) receives calls from a plurality of users (4) desiring to access the listings and an operator terminal (20, 20') receives the communication from the switching device and retrieves a listing from the first database (18, 18'). A first route is provided for handling telephone communications between the operator terminal and the user and a second route is provided with an out-of band (200) processor for receiving information corresponding to call completion information and to provide call completion data (17) to the switching device (12) for completing the call between the user (4) and the requested listing.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed which provide for a communications gateway to be operatively coupled to a messaging system. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, communications are established via the gateway responsive at least to messaging communications involving the communications gateway.
Abstract:
Services platform (3) linking a services network (1) with a telephony network (2) and providing, to components (4,5) of the services network, access to components (PSTN, GPRS, UMTS, INMARSAT etc) of the telephony network. First adapters (9) invoke telephony components using several different telephony related protocols, while second adapters (13) invoke service components (11) using different protocols. Service components (11) are fit for execution of a consistent set of actions in the telephony network (2), communicated to and/or from the telephony network via the relevant first protocol adapter or adapters (9), under control of said components (4, 5) of the services network, communicated to and/or from the services network via the relevant second protocol adapter of adapters (13). The service components preferably are implemented as Enterprise JAVA Beans (EJB): the first and-or second adapters (9) Message Driven beans, and the service components (11) Session Driven (SD) beans, exchanging data with one or more Entity beans (14).
Abstract:
Methods for providing contextual information about communication devices and/or services. Profile information (102) indicating a user's communication devices and/or services stored. When profile information or a message log is displayed, the user may identify a communication device and/or service. A query inquires whether the user would like contextual information. The contextual information may be obtained from a gateway in a data network or a telecommunications manager in a telecommunication network. The contextual information is displayed. Profile information about a user' communicating partner may be stores. When the user makes an effort to communicate with the partner, a check may be made of the partner's profile information for a preferred communication device and/or service. If the user does not have a communication device and/or service corresponding to that of the communicating partner, a query may inquire whether the user would like contextual information. If so, the contextual information is presented.
