Abstract:
A method and apparatus can be configured to receive a first session- initiation-protocol (SIP) message relating to an attempt to make a call. The method may include determining that the attempt to make the call is an attempt to make a multimedia-messaging-emergency- services call. The method may include transmitting an indication of the attempt to make the multimedia-messaging-emergency-services call. The indication is transmitted to a second node. The method may also include transmitting a second session-initiation-protocol message relating to a denial of serving the multimedia-messaging-emergency- services call.
Abstract:
A method for operating an end user unit includes operating a screensaver on the end user unit and embedding event-related data into an output of the screensaver so as to maintain an operation of the screensaver.
Abstract:
The systems and methods described herein include a platform (12) that employs a client/server architecture to provide an extensible set of real time and messaging communication services to a plurality of users. The platform (12) allows the clients to configure and activate the services as each user wishes, thereby providing individual control over the communication services a user receives. The platform (12) includes a server (15, 18, 30, 32, 34, 42A-42E, 90, 92) that allows a user to select how the user will participate in a communications event. This can include control over the end points (48, 50) and media over which the communications event occurs. The systems described herein additionally provide a framework for developing integrated voice and data services that can be deployed on the platform (12) for extending the services available to the plurality of clients.
Abstract:
An enhanced telephone system provides a communication channel between a telephone associated with a customer and a party using another telephone. The system includes a mediator server. The mediator server monitors conversations and when a predetermined event is detected, for example, when the customer terminates a conversation, a message is sent to the other telephone, and optionally, to the customer's telephone as well. The message includes an audio clip, and optionally other elements, such as graphics and alphanumeric characters.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed which provide for a communications gateway to be operatively coupled to a messaging system. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, communications are established via the gateway responsive at least to messaging communications involving the communications gateway.
Abstract:
A system, apparatus, graphical user interface and methods are provided for conducting electronic voice communications with status notifications. A user of a first portable device executing a communication application selects a multi-function control that automatically initiates an audio recording, which is automatically sent toward another participant of an active communication session when the control is released. The same multi-function control may be used to transmit a textual message. A representation of the recording is displayed on the user's device, with an indicator that changes appearance when the other participant plays the recording. In addition, when one user initiates an audio recording that will be automatically sent to another user, the other user's device is advised of the initiation of recording and displays that status for the other user.
Abstract:
A method and system for targeted advertising in a communication system for connecting voice calls is provided. In accordance one embodiment of the present disclosure, there is provided a method for targeted advertising in a communication system for connecting a voice call, the method comprising: receiving a request to connect a voice call between a first communication device and a second communication device identified by a contact identifier; establishing a voice connection between the first communication device and a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateway; transmitting a first audio advertisement over the voice connection between the first communication device and the VoIP gateway to be played on the first communication device; establishing a voice connection between the second communication device and the VoIP gateway; and connecting the voice call between the first communication device and the second communication device.
Abstract:
The automated dissemination of information in response to a telephone call is disclosed. When a call is received, the call can be forwarded to a third party, such as an emergency service provider. Data and/or audio information associated with the call can be automatically transmitted to one or more recipients.
