This flame retardant hydraulic oil contain a hydraulic base oil comprising as the essential component an polyol partial ester which is a product formed by reacting (A) a polyol having a total of 6 to 22 carbon atoms and a total of 3 to 6 hydroxyl groups with (B) an acyclic monocarboxylic acid having a total of 6 to 22 carbon atoms. Said polyol partial ester has a hydroxyl value of 35mgKOH /g or more, a flash point of 290°C or higher and an average molecular weight of 600 to 1,500.

The invention relates to a lubricating mixture, which contains glycerides of natural origin and fatty acid alkyl esters. At least some of the glycerides are mono- and/or diglycerides, which form a mass fraction of ≥ 10% in the mixture. In a temperature range of > 10°C to at least 15°C, the mixture has a liquid phase having a solid fraction of 1 vol%, which solid fraction is formed from a fraction of the glycerides and/or of the fatty acid alkyl esters. The mixture can be formed completely from renewable raw materials, has a high viscosity index, and is suitable especially as a lubricant for use in gearings, electric motors, or internal combustion engines.

Liquid compositions for use in compression refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems in which a fluoroalkene containing from 3 to 4 carbon atoms and at least 1 but no more than 2 double bonds is combined with an effective amount to provide lubrication of an essentially miscible organic lubricant comprised of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and having a ratio of oxygen to carbon effective to provide a degree of miscibility with said fluoroalkene so that when up to five weight percent of lubricant is added to said fluoroalkene the refrigeration has one liquid phase at at least one temperature between -40 and +70°C. Methods for producing refrigeration and heating with the fluoroalkenes, in combination with the disclosed lubricants, are also disclosed.
