    摘要: Electrical interconnection structures are described. The electrical interconnection structures are formed by electrically interconnecting in a stack a plurality of discrete substrates (22, 24). By using a plurality of discrete substrates, a multilayer dielectric/electrical conductor structure can be fabricated from individual discrete substrates each of which can be tested prior to forming a composite stack so that defects in each discrete substrate can be eliminated before inclusion into the stack. Electrical interconnection between adjacent substrate is provided by an array of contact locations on each surface of the adjacent substrates. Corresponding contacts on adjacent substrates are adapted for mutual electrical engagement. Adjacent contact locations can be thermocompression bonded. To reduce the parasitic capacitance and coupled noise between the contact pads (26) the electrical conductors within the interior of each discrete substrate, the contact pads on each substrate have elongated shape. The elongated contact pads or lattice pads on adjacent substrates are nonparallel and preferably orthogonal so that the corresponding pads of adjacent substrates electrically interconnect an intersecting area which varies in location along the elongated contact pads as the placement of the adjacent substrates varies in the manufacture thereof.

    摘要: A flex circuit card with an elastomeric cable connector assembly is provided for for transmitting high speed signals between two or more printed circuit boards in a high performance computer system. The flex circuit card connects a cable assembly to a printed circuit board. A conductor trace in the flex circuit card extends into an elastomeric end and terminates with a ball shaped contact (16)which is angled to wipe against mating pads (51) on the printed circuit card (50) for making electrical contact. The cable assembly uses multiple wires attached to a plurality of elastomeric connectors. At least one elastomeric connector is attached to each end of the cable assembly and each elastomeric connector has a plurality of contacts which are used to mate with a plurality of pads on the surface of the printed circuit board. The elastomeric connector described in the present invention provides a high density, cable-to-board interconnection that is perpendicular to the surface of the printed circuit board.

The stator coils of both motor sections are separate and can be energized independently allowing any combination of rotary or linear motion.
    In an alternate embodiment of the invention, the rotor is fabricated from stacked laminations, in a waffle board like configuration. Such a motor contains no magnets in the rotor and operates as a variable reluctance motor. The rotor laminations are identical for both rotary and linear motion. Accordingly, the rotor can be made as long as practical for a particular application, with stroke not being limited to stator length.

    摘要: An exposure system for electrophotographic apparatus having an aperture plate for masking one or more laser beams. The plate (30) contains one or more apertures (52, 54, 56) which have irregular edges to form a gaussian light distribution for the light beams passing through the apertures. A saw-toothed edge is used with a predetermined amplitude ratio to predictably attenuate the light at the edges which correspond to the process or in-track direction in the exposed image. The gaussian distribution is more tolerable of spacing changes in scan lines and improves the continuity of process direction lines in the finished image.

    摘要: An automatic method and apparatus for the repair of circuit shorts and near-shorts present in narrow bridges (6, 13) or remnants of bridges between circuit lines (5). By applying a voltage across a pair of lines, certain electrical phenomena take place at the area of the short or near-short. The electrical phenomena thus generated induce a localized etching in either a gas-phase or liquid-phase medium depending upon which embodiment is used. The circuit lines are classified into four groups so that no adjacent lines belong to the same group. All lines in a group are connected to one of four separate electrical conductors. Each conductor is connected to one phase of a four phase ac source (7a). All the shorts and near shorts on a circuit are repaired simultaneously and automatically in a single operation without having to locate the shorts and near shorts.

    摘要: The invention comprises a two step method for the repair of "opens" (4) in an electronic circuit wherein initially the open is contacted with a plating solution (5) and a high frequency current is passed through the ends of the open in the circuit with the plating solution enabling the current to complete the path. Metal growth commences between the ends of the open to form a near open. Then the repair is completed by contacting the site with a high speed plating solution and applying a low frequency current.
