A fiber-reinforced composite material comprising fibers of 4 to 200 nm average diameter and a matrix material, whose light transmittance at a wavelength of 400 to 700 nm in terms of 50 μm thickness is 60% or higher. There is also provided a fiber-reinforced composite material comprising a fiber assembly and a matrix material having penetrated the fiber assembly, wherein providing that L represents the segment length in light place region, the light place region corresponding to pore region of the fiber assembly, obtained by statistic analysis of one-way run length images prepared from binarized images obtained by binarization of scanning electron micrograph images of the fiber assembly, the total length of L ≥ 4.5 μm segments is 30% or less of the total analyzed length. There are further provided, including a transparent substrate comprised of the fiber-reinforced composite material, a transparent laminate, wiring board and light guide.

A composition of an organosilicon nanocluster and a method for manufacturing thereof are disclosed. Further; details of a thin-film of silicon and a thin-film of silicon oxide both produced from said organosilicon nanocluster, and an electronic device comprising the organosilicon nanocluster are also disclosed. The organosilicon nanocluster is soluble in an organic solvent and a band gap of a solution thereof in the organic solvent is between 3 eV and 1.2 eV when determined with a Tauc plotting method.

Stepped parts with inclination (a/b) of not larger than 1 are formed on an alignment control film in each pixel. The alignment control film is made of a material to which a liquid crystal alignment performance can be given by the application of polarized light. A liquid crystal orienting performance is given to the alignment control film to the extent of the vicinity of the stepped parts by the application of polarized light. A thick and transparent organic polymer layer is provided between the alignment control film and a substrate to obtain both firm adhesion and transmittability. By this construction, the problem of a narrow manufacturing margin of the alignment process can be solved, and a liquid crystal display, particularly a large scale crystal display, whose display defects caused by the variation of the initial alignment direction are reduced and whose contrast ratio is improved can be provided.
