    摘要: Stepped parts with inclination (a/b) of not larger than 1 are formed on an alignment control film in each pixel. The alignment control film is made of a material to which a liquid crystal alignment performance can be given by the application of polarized light. A liquid crystal orienting performance is given to the alignment control film to the extent of the vicinity of the stepped parts by the application of polarized light. A thick and transparent organic polymer layer is provided between the alignment control film and a substrate to obtain both firm adhesion and transmittability. By this construction, the problem of a narrow manufacturing margin of the alignment process can be solved, and a liquid crystal display, particularly a large scale crystal display, whose display defects caused by the variation of the initial alignment direction are reduced and whose contrast ratio is improved can be provided.
