Abstract: The invention relates to a counter shaft type transmission equipped with a pair of transmission gear trains (12-17, 26-31), the input shaft (11) of the first gear train (12-17) is connected with the engine (1) and that of the second gear train (26-31) is connected with the engine via a motor (5), the torque of the first gear train (12-17) is shifted onto the second gear train (26-31) for a while by means of the motor (5), and gear change in the first gear train (12-17) is accomplished during the time. By setting the gear ratio of the second gear train (26-31) to a half-position of gear ratio of the first gear train (12-17), motor capacity and battery capacity can be reduced and, because no clutch is needed, an economic transmission can be realized. Besides, by active transmission by means of the motor (5), torque transfer transmission becomes possible for both up-shift and down-shift. Furthermore, jump shift that has not been available in a prior art becomes possible and, since continuous ratio can be achieved, drivability of an automobile improves.

Abstract: In a power train control apparatus including an engine, an automatic transmission having a torque converter, and a control unit for controlling the engine and the automatic transmission, the control apparatus is provided with a microcomputer for calculating and estimating values of the input shaft torque and a gear ratio of the automatic transmission. Various characteristics of the engine and the torque converter are obtained in advance by experiments, such as the relationship between an engine torque and an engine speed, and that between a pump capacity coefficient data and a slip ratio of the torque converter. Thereafter, data tables are made by using these characteristics, and control factors required to control the engine and the automatic transmission are made as an equation in relation to the input shaft torque and the gear ratio so as that they can be calculated by the microcomputer.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of realizing smooth and efficient transmission control without using a clutch by incorporating a motor in the transmission and controlling torque and the number of revolutions. SOLUTION: A first gear row input shaft of the parallel shaft type transmission having two sets of gear shift gear rows is connected with an engine, a second gear row input shaft is connected with the engine through a motor, and torque of the first gear row is temporarily moved to the second gear row by the motor to switch a gear of the first gear row during that time. Gear ratio of the second gear row is used as an intermediate step of gear ratio of the first gear row to reduce motor capacity and battery capacity and dispense with the clutch in order to provide the economical transmission device. Torque transition gear shift for up-shift and down-shift becomes possible by performing active gear shift by the motor.
