Abstract: A tire (1) comprising over at least part of its surface at least one applique (8). The applique (8) includes a first layer (9) in contact with the air and constituting the upper layer of the applique, and a second layer (10) in contact with the tire (1) and constituting the lower layer of the applique (8), said lower layer (10) of the applique including a bielastic fabric. The fabric used is preferably a bielastic knitted fabric, that is to say a mesh fabric of which the loops which form the mesh are capable of moving relative to one another in the knit direction and perpendicular to the knit direction.

Abstract: A tire has a toroidal-shaped carcass and an airtight layer which contains at least one ductile metal layer. In one embodiment the airtight layer is a deformable metal layer having a thickness less than or equal to 5 &mgr;m applied on the interior surface of the tire carcass by a support carrier on which the metal layer has been deposited. The support carrier may be retained as part of the tire or removed after applying the metal layer on the interior surface of the tire carcass.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for anti-ozone protection of at least a part of the outer surface of a vulcanized tire, where the composition of the tire is based on essentially unsaturated dienic elastomers. The present method comprises: (1) subjecting the surface of the vulcanized tire to a treatment in order to polarize and functionalize the elastomers of the surface; (2) applying at least one layer comprising an aqueous polyurethane dispersion to this treated surface; and (3) allowing this layer to dry until a protective coating is formed. The present invention further relates to a tire comprising an anti-ozone protective coating, where the protective coating is formed according to the method described above.

Abstract: A tire is provided, on a surface thereof, an applicaiton having a top layer exposed to the air and a bottom layer in contact with the tire. The top layer can be a rigid element and/or a marking covering, or a device for measuring or monitoring the tire. The bottom layer is a foam having a void ratio of at least 40%, a thickness of at least 0.5 mm, and a density ranging from 0.02 g/cm3 to 0.5 g/cm3.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a method of measuring the wear on at least one tire (20) mounted on a wheel (10) and comprising tread pattern elements (27, 28), and a tire (20), wheel (10), and a tire/wheel assembly (1) for implementing this method. According to the invention, the wear measurement method includes detecting electromagnetic energy transmitted through a transmission element disposed in at least one tire tread element to an internal space of the tire, the energy detected representative of a wear condition of the tread element or elements (27, 28). A tire (20) according to the invention comprises at least one device for transmitting electromagnetic radiation (50, 60), which device is disposed in at least one of tread element (27, 28) to conduct incident radiation striking the external surface to the tire (20) to the internal space, the transmission devices (50, 60) becoming exposed to the external surface upon a predetermined amount of wear of the tread element (27, 28).
