Abstract: In one example of the disclosure, a print agent is applied upon a length of web substrate. A dryer is utilized to dry the web substrate length. Moisture is applied to the web substrate length. The moisturized web substrate length is wound upon a spool to form a top liner length, with no dryer to be utilized to dry the web substrate length between the moisture application and the winding.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides pre-treatment compositions and related methods. As such, a pre-treatment coating for a print medium can include an evaporable solvent, a matrix, and a wax. The matrix can include from 50 wt % to 80 wt % of a fixer and from 5 wt % to 20 wt % of a low Tg latex. The wax can be present at from 5 wt % to 30 wt %. The weight percentages of the matrix and the wax are based on a total amount present in the pre-treatment coating after removal of the solvent.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a print medium, a printed article, and a method of printing. The print medium can include a thin paper substrate having weight ranging from 40 GSM to 150 GSM, and a pre-treatment coating applied to the thin paper substrate at a weight ranging from 0.3 GSM to 15 GSM. The pre-treatment coating can include from 10 wt % to 80 wt % of a fixer, from 3 wt % to 50 wt % of a latex polymer, and from 5 wt % to 50 wt % of a water holding agent.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides swellable pre-treatment compositions, printable media, and related methods. As such, a swellable pre-treatment coating for a print medium can include an evaporable solvent, a matrix, and a wax. The matrix can include from 10 wt % to 20 wt % of a fixer, from 25 wt % to 35 wt % of aluminum chlorohydrate, from 0.5 wt % to 10 wt % of a first binder, from 20 wt % to 30 wt % of a second cross-linkable binder, and from 1 wt % to 5 wt % of a cross-linker. The wax can be present at from 10 wt % to 20 wt %, The weight percentages of the matrix and the wax are based on a total amount present in the swellable pre-treatment coating after removal of the evaporable solvent.

Abstract: A pre-treatment coating composition can include an evaporable liquid vehicle and a pre-treatment coating matrix carried by the evaporable liquid vehicle. The pre-treatment coating matrix in this example can include from 30 wt % to 70 wt % multivalent organic salt including a multivalent metal acetate or a multivalent metal propionate, from 5 wt % to 30 wt % dispersed polymeric binder having a weight average molecular weight from 20,000 Mw to 1,000,000 Mw, from 0.5 wt % to 8 wt % of a high molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder, and from 10 wt % to 30 wt % of a low molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder. The low molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder and the high molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder in this example can be present in the pre-treatment coating matrix at a 3:1 to 15:1 weight ratio. Weight percentages in this example are based on dry weight of the pre-treatment coating matrix.
