    Abstract: The present disclosure provides pre-treatment compositions and related methods. As such, a pre-treatment coating for a print medium can include an evaporable solvent, a matrix, and a wax. The matrix can include from 50 wt % to 80 wt % of a fixer and from 5 wt % to 20 wt % of a low Tg latex. The wax can be present at from 5 wt % to 30 wt %. The weight percentages of the matrix and the wax are based on a total amount present in the pre-treatment coating after removal of the solvent.

    Abstract: A pre-treatment coating composition can include an evaporable liquid vehicle and a pre-treatment coating matrix carried by the evaporable liquid vehicle. The pre-treatment coating matrix in this example can include from 30 wt % to 70 wt % multivalent organic salt including a multivalent metal acetate or a multivalent metal propionate, from 5 wt % to 30 wt % dispersed polymeric binder having a weight average molecular weight from 20,000 Mw to 1,000,000 Mw, from 0.5 wt % to 8 wt % of a high molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder, and from 10 wt % to 30 wt % of a low molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder. The low molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder and the high molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol binder in this example can be present in the pre-treatment coating matrix at a 3:1 to 15:1 weight ratio. Weight percentages in this example are based on dry weight of the pre-treatment coating matrix.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides pre-treatment compositions and related methods. As such, a pre-treatment coating composition can include an evaporable liquid vehicle and a pre-treatment coating matrix. The pre-treatment coating matrix can include from 5 wt % to 40 wt % multivalent metal salt, and from 5 wt % to 20 wt % polyurethane. The composition can further include from 10 wt % to 50 wt % high Tg latex having a Tg greater than 80° C., from 0.5 wt % to 20 wt % water soluble binder, and from 3 wt % to 20 wt % wax having a melting point greater than 120° C. The weight percentages of the pre-treatment coating matrix exclude the evaporable liquid vehicle content, and the weight ratio of the high Tg latex to polyurethane is from 1:1 to 5:1.

    Abstract: A printable recording media containing a substrate; a pre-coat layer including more than about 60 wt % of one or more inorganic pigments by total dry weight of the pre-coat layer; a topcoating layer including more than about 60 wt % of one or more inorganic pigments; up to 25 wt % of binders and up to about 5 wt % of a combination of natural and synthetic rheology modifiers, by total weight of the top-coating layer, wherein the ratio of the amount of natural rheology modifiers to the amount of synthetic rheology modifiers is from about 90:10 to about 50:50. Also disclosed herein is a method for making such printable recording media.
