    摘要: An image display apparatus and an image display method are provided by which a total length of light-emission duration for each display line can be increased. An image display apparatus for displaying an image includes: display lines which form a display screen and each of which displays tone information of display data; a first gate driver which sequentially write the display data into first storage capacitors provided in respective pixel circuits; a third gate driver which writes the display data written in the first storage capacitors, into corresponding second storage capacitors provided in the respective pixel circuits; and organic EL elements which emit light based on the display data written in the corresponding second storage capacitors, and within a period during which the display lines emit light by the organic EL elements, the first gate driver writes display data of a next image into the first storage capacitors.

This method is an image display method used in an image display apparatus that repeats displaying images for a left eye and for a right eye alternately that form a stereoscopic image, on a screen including a plurality of display lines, and includes: a shield switching starting step (t1) of starting switching a shielding state of an eyewear; a write-scan starting step (210) of starting sequentially writing display data of the images in a plurality of display lines; and a light emission starting step (220) of starting continuous light emission from the plurality of display lines, based on the display data, and the write-scan starting step starts writing the display data, in a period (Sc) in which the shielding state is switched; the light emission starting step does not allow a plurality of display lines to continue light emission in the period (Sc) in which the shielding state is switched; and a time required for starting of continuous light emission from the plurality of display lines is shorter than a time required for write-scanning of the display data in the plurality of display lines.

    摘要: In a recording and reproducing device, compressed 3D video image data recorded on an optical disc is reproduced by a recording and reproducing unit and decompressed to baseband 3D video image data by a codec. A format converting unit converts the recording format of the optical disc into the transmission format of HDMI in accordance with the display capability of the display device preliminarily acquired and outputs the resulting data. The format converting unit of the display device converts the transmission format of 3D video image data received through an HDMI cable into a display format. A display control unit displays 3D video image data converted into the display format on the display panel.
