Disclosed is a method for preparing a nitric oxide-generating adherent coating, comprising: preparing a buffer solution containing polyphenol compounds, organic selenium or sulfur compounds and soluble copper salts; then contacting a base material with the solution, and washing and drying to obtain a target product. The nitric oxide-generating material prepared by the method can be used for any medical device, such as an intravascular stent, or materials and any complex-shaped base material, and has the capability of scavenging free radicals and catalyzing RSNO to produce nitrogen monoxide, and also has a response function of reduced glutathione (GSH), an antimicrobial function and all the physiological functions possessed by nitrogen monoxide.

A poly(butylene terephthalate-co-adipate) copolymer is disclosed, where the copolymer has a melt temperature from 105 to 125° C., and wherein the copolymer includes a polyester component residue derived from a terephthalic-containing polyester homopolymer, a terephthalic-containing polyester copolymer, and combinations thereof, and further includes a polyester residue component; a quencher residue; and from 0.05 to 5 weight % based on total weight of poly(butylene terephthalate-co-adipate) copolymer of a residue of an isocyanurate, polyisocyanate, and combinations thereof. A method for coating a non-metallic substrate with a polymer solution that includes an aromatic polyester and a solvent is provided. By selectively controlling the nature of the aromatic polyester, the present inventors have discovered that such polymer solutions can be readily formed, thereby enabling the use of simpler and less complex techniques (e.g., solvent casting) for coating substrates with aromatic polyesters. Moreover, the nature of the polyester and its relative concentration in the solution can also be tailored to achieve coatings that not only adhere well to the substrate, but also possess good thermal and mechanical properties for use in a wide variety of potential applications.

The invention relates to a composition containing a particulate solid; an organic medium; and a quaternised polyester salt which comprises a product obtained/obtainable by reaction of (i) a polyester containing a tertiary amino group; and (ii) a quaternising agent suitable for converting the tertiary amino group to a quaternary nitrogen, wherein the quaternising agent is a hydrocarbyl epoxide in combination with an acid, or mixtures thereof. The invention relates to an airdrying resin suitable for a coating composition characterized in that the resin is a polyesteramide prepared from: A) at least one anhydride chosen from the list containing succinic, glutaric, citraconic, itaconic or maleic anhydride or a combination of any of them, and B) at least one alkanol-amine, and C) at least one fatty acid, wherein the fatty acid is incorporated in the resin in an amount equivalent to an oil-length between 15 and 40%. This airdrying resin is both water- and solvent-soluble, having a combination of properties desirable for different types of applications. The invention relates also to a method for preparing such a polyesteramide resin, to a composition comprising at least one polyesteramide resin and a method for preparing such a composition, to a substrate fully or partially coated with this composition, a method for curing the coated substrate, the cured and coated substrate and the use of resin in various applications.

Wire-coating composition containing resins with nucleophilic groups as well as possibly amide group-containing resins which are capable of crosslinking with one another, comprising (A) 5 to 95% by weight of at least one resin with nucleophilic groups selected from the group consisting of OH, NHR, SH, carboxylate and CH-acidic groups, (B) 0 to 70% by weight of at least one amide group-containing resin and (C) 5 to 95% by weight of at least one organic solvent, wherein the resins of either component (A) or component (B) contain α-carboxy-β-oxocycloalkyl carboxylic acid amide groups and the percent by weight of (A)-(C) adds up to 100 percent. The wire-coating compositions according to the invention allow a significant increase in the enamelling speed without losing the positive properties of standard wire enamels.
