Abstract: A method may include placing a bottom facer on a conveyor, placing a core layer on the bottom facer placing a top facer on the core layer, and pressing the bottom facer, the core layer, and the top facer in a hot press to form a panel, wherein the hot press causes the bottom facer to shrink relative to the top facer, introducing a warp into the panel such that, when installed, the warp compensates for an installation warp and the panel is flat upon installation.

Abstract: A pipe joining system and pipe joint are shown m which two sections of molecularly oriented pipe are joined using heat shrinking techniques. A first section of pipe is provided having a straight, pre-formed socket with an internal diameter and with an end opening having enough clearance to allow a mating spigot section having a given external diameter to be inserted into the socket end opening. After the spigot end is inserted to a given depth, the socket is heated sufficiently so that the internal diameter of the socket end comes into contact with the external diameter of the spigot end, the molecularly oriented pipe being in a rubbery state and exhibiting a low elastic modulus which allows the socket end to conform tightly to the spigot end external diameter without deforming the spigot end.

Abstract: A method for inserting an insert into a hole in a composite material made from a plurality of carbon fiber layers suspended in a resin material includes lowering a temperature of the insert to a reduced temperature at which a coefficient of thermal expansion of a material of the insert causes the insert to contract to a first perimeter, inserting the insert at the reduced temperature into the hole, and permitting the temperature of the insert to increase from the reduced temperature to an operational temperature. At the operational temperature, the insert expands to a second perimeter so that the insert is retained within the composite material due to an interference between the insert and the composite material. The interference transfers a structural load from the insert to the composite material and results in damage to the composite material if the insert is dislodged at the operational temperature.

Abstract: A portable drug testing device for handheldly collecting a sample from exhaled breath of a subject for further sensor based analysis. The portable drug testing device comprising a housing comprising at least one inlet and at least one outlet for the exhaled breath to exit through, and a sampling membrane arranged in the housing. a tubular element having a mouthpiece section for the subject to exhale into, and a selective trap section in fluid communication with the mouthpiece and the inlet of the housing having a non-straight gas flow path for letting aerosols pass through the tubular element. The sampling membrane is arranged to collect the aerosols from the exhaled breath. The portable drug testing device further comprises a volume measure unit for determining that a pre-defined volume of the exhaled breath has passed through the sampling membrane.

Abstract: A clamping ring that presses an end of a pipe against a connecting piece by back shrinkage. The clamping ring comprises a body comprising a plastic material having memory properties. The body has a first end to be positioned at a distance from the end of the pipe and a second end to be positioned close to the end of the pipe. The body of the clamping ring has a first position at the first end or at the distance from the first end having a first radial wall thickness. The body of the clamping ring has at least one second position between the first position and the second end such that the body of the clamping ring has a second radial wall thickness at the second position. The second radial wall thickness is smaller than the first radial wall thickness.

Abstract: A repair system for repairing a polyolefin pipe containing a transitional film applied over and bonded to the pipe and a reinforcement system, applied over the transitional film. The transitional film has a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins and the reinforcement system contains a fiber-reinforced polyurethane system bonded to the second side of the transitional film.A system two polyolefin tubular members joined end-to-end containing two tubular members arranged such that their respective ends are adjacent, thereby defining a circumferential joint, a transitional film applied and bonded to the circumferential joint and at least a portion of the two tubular members, and a reinforcement system applied over the transitional film. The transitional film has a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins and the reinforcement system contains a fiber-reinforced polyurethane or a fiber-reinforced epoxy system bonded to the second side of the transitional film.
