摘要: Improvements in the structural components and physical characteristics of lithium battery articles are provided. Standard lithium ion batteries, for example, are prone to certain phenomena related to short circuiting and have experienced high temperature occurrences and ultimate firing as a result. Structural concerns with battery components have been found to contribute to such problems. Improvements provided herein include the utilization of thin metallized current collectors (aluminum and/or copper, as examples), high shrinkage rate materials, materials that become nonconductive upon exposure to high temperatures, and combinations thereof. Such improvements accord the ability to withstand certain imperfections (dendrites, unexpected electrical surges, etc.) within the target lithium battery through provision of ostensibly an internal fuse within the subject lithium batteries themselves that prevents undesirable high temperature results from short circuits. Battery articles and methods of use thereof including such improvements are also encompassed within this disclosure.

摘要: A lithium secondary battery of the present invention comprises: a positive electrode comprising a positive electrode current collector and a positive electrode material mixture layer, a negative electrode comprising a negative electrode current collector and a lithium metal foil, and a separator, and further comprises a thermally deformable separator disposed in the vicinity of the positive electrode material mixture layer on the surface of the positive electrode current collector, and an extension portion that extends from the lithium metal foil so as to be in contact with the thermally deformable separator; the thermally deformable separator having a melting point of 80° C. or higher, which is equal to or lower than the melting point of lithium metal; and when a thermally deformable separator 31 thermally deforms, the extension portion comes into contact with the positive electrode current collector, resulting in a short circuit of the positive electrode and the negative electrode.

摘要: A battery system is provided having first and second battery cells in a battery pack. A first battery management system (BMS) may be in communication with the first battery cell, while a second battery management system may be in communication with the second battery cell. In this manner, each BMS may function to locally control each respective battery cell, thereby providing improved control over each cell. The BMSs may include controllers configured to receive measurement data from the battery cells, to process this battery cell measurement data, and then to produce a control signal based on the battery cell measurement data. The control signals may be provided to switching circuitry connected to the battery cell, thereby allowing for individualized control of each battery cell. Additionally, each BMS may share information regarding the individual cell they monitor with other BMSs. Because each battery cell may be associated with its own BMS, manufacturability, flexibility, and safety improvements may be achieved, among other advantages.

摘要: A method for generating smoke in a cell pack by which a very small amount of smoke can be generated from a specific single unit cell among unit cells constituting the cell pack. The method causes smoke generation in a cell pack in which unit cells are connected and which includes a positive electrode output terminal for electrically connecting the positive electrode terminal of the unit cell and an external device, and a negative electrode output terminal for electrically connecting the negative electrode terminal of the unit cell and an external device. By attaching a heating means to the negative electrode output terminal, the electrode body of a specific single unit cell is heated through the negative electrode output terminal to which the heating means is attached. As a result, it is possible to cause the generation of a small amount of smoke from the specific single unit cell.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a multifunctional high-voltage connector and a battery product, the multifunctional high-voltage connector comprises: an upper cover; a pedestal; a conductive connection structure; two mating terminals; and a harness assembly. The conductive connection structure is used to make the two mating terminals be connected in series, and the harness assembly is directly connected to one of the mating terminals. When the upper cover and the pedestal are assembled, the conductive connection structure is simultaneously in contact with the two mating terminals, thereby turning on the high-voltage circuit. When the battery product requires maintenance, the upper cover is directly detached from the base, thereby turning off the high-voltage circuit. The battery product can be electrically connected to an external device via the harness assembly. The multifunctional high-voltage connector integrates both a switch function and a high-voltage connection function, therefore the connection resistance is greatly reduced.

摘要: A circuit protection system is provided herein that minimizes the disconnection time of a circuit while protecting other electrical components. Some configurations comprise a set of parallel circuit interruption devices, each connected in series with respective fuses. A control device sets a state of the circuit interruption device based on a current of the circuit. Under certain current loads, the circuit is interrupted without causing a fuse to blow. Under other current loads, the circuit is interrupted by having one or more fuses blow.

摘要: A secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes an electrode assembly to which an electrode lead is attached; a case accommodating the electrode assembly so that a portion of the electrode lead is exposed to the outside; a sealing portion formed in the case to seal the electrode assembly; and a lead film covering a portion of an outer surface of the electrode lead and interposed between the electrode lead and the sealing portion, wherein the electrode lead includes a first region not corresponding to the lead film and exposed to the outside of the case, a second region corresponding to the lead film, and a third region not corresponding to the lead film and not exposed to the outside of the case, wherein a separation groove may be located in the third region.
