    摘要: A variable hemostasis valve is disclosed that may be used during medical procedures to prevent blood loss while permitting the percutaneous introduction, operation, and removal of medical instruments. A flexible tubular seal element is disclosed that is disposed within the variable hemostasis valve to provide a fluid-tight, adjustable seal. After insertion of a medical instrument into the valve through at least a portion of the flexible tubular seal element, a proximal portion of the valve housing may be rotated to cause the tension of the flexible tubular seal element to increase over the inserted medical instrument and engage the valve in a closed position. The proximal portion of the valve housing may then be rotated in an opposite direction to release the seal and return the tubular seal element to a relaxed lumen open position.

    摘要: An endoscope overtube includes a flexible tubular member and a hub assembly provided at the proximal end of the tubular member. The hub assembly includes an elastic sleeve seal cuff extending about the inner surface of a body member of the hub. The ends of seal cuff are coupled to the body member. An inflation line extends into the body member in communication with the outer surface of the seal cuff. When fluid is pressurized through the inflation line, the cuff is distended inward to reduce the size of the opening through the port such that the cuff forms a seal about an endoscope received through the hub. The body member is preferably coupled to each of the flexible tubular member and to the elastic seal cuff using a snap-fit engagement of parts such that no fasteners, welds, glues, etc. are necessary for securing the hub assembly together.

    摘要: A hemostatic valve device for use in inserting an interventional device into a body lumen of patient is provided. The valve device includes a housing that defines a cavity between first and second end openings. A valve structure is disposed within the cavity, and defines a variable diameter channel for receiving the interventional device. The valve structure can include discrete layers of material, such as a sealing layer and a contractible layer such as a biaxial braided layer. The end of the valve structure is movable relative to the fixed end so that the longitudinal passageway of the valve structure varies in diameter and axial length to form a seal against an interventional device inserted within the passageway. An operable element is coupled to the movable end and is actuated by the end user to open and close the valve structure.

    摘要: A valve assembly includes a valve collar, a rotatable valve control member, and a flexible valve member disposed therebetween. The valve control member and the valve collar are aligned to define an elongated passageway, and the flexible valve member is disposed along the passageway. The valve collar is structured such that at least a portion thereof is capable of radial flexure upon engagement with a mechanism on the rotatable valve control member. One end of the valve member is secured to the valve collar, and the other end is secured to the rotatable valve control member. Upon rotation of the rotatable valve control member relative to the valve collar, the mechanism of the rotatable valve control member engages the valve collar portion in a manner such that the valve collar portion flexes in a radial direction and a tactile sensation is produced thereby, and the flexible valve member constricts from an open position to a position wherein the flexible valve member opening is at least partially closed to passage of fluid therethrough.
