Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for estimating a speed limit are disclosed herein. A system for estimating a speed limit includes one or more perception sensors, an arbitrated speed component, an attribute component, an estimator component, and a notification component. The one or more perception sensors are configured to generate perception data about a region near a vehicle. The arbitrated speed component is configured to determine that a high confidence or arbitrated speed limit is not available. The attribute component is configured to detect one or more environmental attributes based on the perception data. The estimator component is configured to determine an estimated speed limit based on the environmental attributes. The notification component is configured to provide the estimated speed limit to an automated driving system or driver assistance system of the vehicle.

Abstract: Warning guidance systems, methods, and programs communicate with a vehicle navigation system to provide guidance on a warning event that may occur on the vehicle. The systems, methods, and programs acquire warning event information indicating the warning event and an event vehicle on which the warning event has occurred. The systems methods and programs transmit the guidance to the vehicle traveling in a predetermined section in a case in which the warning event that has occurred a plurality of times in the predetermined section has occurred on a plurality of event vehicles, but do not transmit the guidance at another vehicle traveling in the predetermined section in a case in which the warning event that has occurred a plurality of times in the predetermined section has occurred on a single event vehicle for all of the plurality of times.

Abstract: A system for data aggregation and analytical scoring is described that includes a gateway operable to aggregate data received from multiple remote devices, and a device history data model storing properties for each of the multiple remote devices and storing the data received from each remote device. A scoring engine in the system acts to aggregate and analyze the data stored in the device history data model and to produce a metric based on the data. The system also includes a notification policy to conditionally notify a user based on the metric produced by the scoring engine.

Automatically generating the semantic road scene description of the road segment can include determining lane-level activity information for each lane based on lane information and dynamic road object information and determining a lane-level spatial layout for each lane based on the lane information and the dynamic road object information.

Abstract: An information providing apparatus includes a traffic information database and a data processing device. The data processing device detects, based on the traffic information data, an impediment event. The data processing device extracts the impediment event potentially encountered by an assisted vehicle. The data processing device calculates, based on the traffic information data, a certainty level of the impediment event. The data processing device provides a driver of the assisted vehicle with a straightforward notification regarding the impediment event potentially encountered by the assisted vehicle and having the certainty level equal to or higher than a straightforward notification threshold. The data processing device provides the driver with an euphemistic notification, which is different from the straightforward notification, regarding the impediment event potentially encountered by the assisted vehicle and having the certainty level less than the straightforward notification threshold.

Abstract: A system for sharing and processing traffic and/or road condition information includes a number of traffic and/or road condition information computer systems within individual vehicles and/or devices and/or a virtual traffic information server on a mobile network. The traffic and/or road condition information computer systems may be each connected through a peer-to-peer radio, cellular, Wi-Fi, or other similar types of communications network, and which each operate with a database for displaying road maps, with a database storing average speed data for directions of travel along roadways, and with a location sensor used to determine the location and average speed of the vehicle or device, which may be transmitted to other vehicles. The virtual server returns average speed data for road segments, which is displayed on the road maps. The system includes sharing average speed data calculated as well average speed data received from the plurality of vehicles to other vehicles, thereby enhancing the real-time communication of traffic and/or road condition data.

Abstract: Various aspects of a system and method for driving assistance along a path are disclosed herein. In accordance with an embodiment, a unique identifier is received from a communication device at an electronic control unit (ECU) of a first vehicle. The unique identifier is received when the first vehicle has reached a first location along a first portion of the path. A communication channel is established between the first vehicle and the communication device based on the received unique identifier. Data associated with a second portion of the path is received by the ECU from the communication device based on the established communication channel. Alert information associated with the second portion of the path is generated by the ECU based on the received data.

Abstract: A first plurality of traffic data transmitted by a first client device associated with a first vehicle may be received. The received first plurality of traffic data may be stored in a database according to a license plate of the first vehicle. A second plurality of traffic data transmitted by a second client device associated with a second vehicle may be received. The license plate of the first vehicle may be identified within the received second plurality of traffic data using at least one image recognition technique. The identified license plate may be determined to be stored in the database. The first plurality of traffic data may be transmitted to the second client device based on determining the identified license plate is stored in the database. The transmitted first plurality of traffic data may be displayed within a user interface associated with the second client device.
