Abstract:
In an example, a seal for a wheel assembly includes a first rim half and a second rim half. The seal comprises a cylindrical body having a hollow interior, a first seal end configured to mate with a first inner rim surface of the first rim half, and a second seal end configured to mate with a second inner rim surface of the second rim half, and one or more drain holes. The cylindrical body has a cylindrical wall with the one or more drain holes configured to substantially deflect incoming matter from impinging upon the hollow interior and to allow condensate to evacuate from the hollow interior through the one or more drain holes. The cylindrical body comprises an elastomeric material.
Abstract:
A bolt together wheel assembly with deflation system includes an inner wheel half, an outer wheel half, a bolt cover ring, and a removable valve stem. Clamping bolts and clamping nuts secure the outer wheel half to the inner wheel half. Venting port plugs secure the bolt cover ring to the outer wheel half over the clamping bolts. Loosening one or more of the venting port plugs to access the clamping bolts opens a seal to a vent port within the inner wheel half and releases pressurized air from a tire on the wheel, ensuring that the tire is deflated before the wheel can be disassembled.
Abstract:
Systems and apparatus for an oval O-ring groove for aircraft wheels may generally comprise an inboard wheel portion and an inboard O-ring groove. The inboard wheel portion may include an inboard rim located opposite of an inboard tubewell. The inboard tubewell may have an inboard mating surface located on an axially outward edge of the inboard tubewell. The inboard O-ring groove may be formed as a partial oval-shaped recess located on an outer edge of the inboard mating surface.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aircraft wheel comprising a rim and a tire (20) received on the rim, the rim comprising two parts (1; 2) assembled with one another by means of assembly bolts (5), one of the parts comprising a recess (3) in which is arranged a seal (4) which is interposed between the two parts, the wheel being characterized in that at least one of the parts comprises at least one duct (6) extending beneath the seal so as to establish a leakage path between on one hand a volume of gas delimited by the rim and the tire, and on the other hand a space between the parts, the path being nominally closed by the seal when the bolts are tightened correctly but allowing gas to leak from said volume when the bolt associated with said opening is not tightened correctly or is absent.
Abstract:
This invention is related to a lightweight process of manufacturing a bicycle's rim and a rim structure manufactured thereby. A rim frame comprising an inner frame, a cladding part, and a support part between the inner frame and the cladding part. The inner frame and the support part are milled to form plural through holes uniformly distributed thereon. The areas occupied by the through holes is 35% to 85% of a total surface of the inner frame and the support part. Moreover, a proper distance is formed between the adjacent through holes in the process, and a carbon fiber layer covers the outer surface of the rim frame. Therefore, the weight of the bicycle's rim is decreased, and the carbon fiber layer can stably attach on the rim frame to increase the structural strength of the rim.
Abstract:
A take-apart vehicle wheel assembly includes an inner wheel part defining an axis and including a generally radially extending annular flange having an outboard surface; an outer wheel part configured to be secured to the inner wheel part, the outer wheel part including a generally radially extending annular flange having an inboard surface; a gap defined between the outboard surface of the inner wheel part and the inboard surface of the outer wheel part in an area adjacently surrounding each of a plurality of stud receiving holes formed in the inner and outer wheel parts; and a seal disposed in the gap; wherein the gap is formed by providing a recess in at least one of the outboard surface of the inner wheel part and the inboard surface of the outer wheel part in at least a portion of the area adjacently surrounding each of the plurality of stud receiving holes formed therein.
Abstract:
A combination wheel and valve assembly has a plurality of spokes each having at least one aperture through a rim-end thereof. A rim has an inner surface and a spoke mating element opposite the inner surface. A plurality of through-holes extend through the spoke mating element of the rim. A plurality of bolts are shaped to fit through the aperture of the rim-end of each of the spokes, and into one of the plurality of through-holes of the spoke mating element, to fasten each spoke to the rim. A conduit extends through the inner surface of the rim to one of the through-holes of the rim, such that a valve assembly can extend through the aperture of one of the spokes and engage the through-hole having the conduit, thereby enabling fluid flow through the valve assembly and the conduit to the inner surface of the rim.
Abstract:
An adapter ring for an auto wheel system includes a flat annular ring having a transverse center axis and circumferential holes positioned radially off of a virtual annular center circumference of the ring in a direction of a transverse center axis. The ring is used in a system including a wheel system having an auto wheel barrel including an inner annular flange located at an axial offset outward of a radial centerline of the barrel, the flange having a circumferential multiplicity of threaded axial recesses. Upon the inner annular flange, an annular adapter ring is proportioned for flush orientation upon the flange and circumferentially against an inner surface of an interior diameter of the barrel immediately above the flange, the ring including circumferential holes. Located conformally to the recesses of the annular flange of the barrel is a selectable center disc proportioned for complemental placement within an outer end of the barrel upon the adapter ring, the disc including an annular inner interface for engagement against an outer surface of the adapter ring, the interface including an annular axially inward projection for press-fittable contact against an interior diameter of the adapter ring, the center disc having its circumferential threaded holes conformal in position to the holes of the ring and the recesses of the barrel annular flange. Also, included are and bolts having threadings complemental to that of the holes and recesses, the bolts threadable into the flange recesses to effect a secure fastening of the disc, adapter ring and flange together.
Abstract:
A centralized device for dealing with the phenomena of loss of pressure and running flat with a vehicle tire, comprising a means external to the mounted assembly, permanently fixed to the vehicle and able to inject or otherwise bring into the internal cavity of the tire at least one active product, also external to the mounted assembly, and able to treat the phenomena of loss of pressure and ultimately running flat.
