    摘要: A light-emitting device and illumination apparatus using the same are provided. The light-emitting device includes a semiconductor light-emitting element that emits blue-violet or blue light and a fluorescent material that absorbs the light emitted by the semiconductor light-emitting element and emits fluorescence of wavelengths different from the light, wherein the fluorescent material includes a mixture of a first fluorescent material, a second fluorescent material that has a longer emission wavelength than that of the first fluorescent material, and a third fluorescent material that has a longer emission wavelength than the second fluorescent material, and the first fluorescent material is a europium-activated β-SiAlON fluorescent material, the second fluorescent material is a europium-activated α-SiAlON fluorescent material, and the third fluorescent material is a nitride crystalline red fluorescent material of a general formula of (Ca,Eu)AlSiN3. The illumination apparatus includes a light source including a light emitting device as described above.

    摘要: The presence or absence of methylation of C's in CpG dinucleotide in a sample DNA that contains a target sequence including the CpG dinucleotide is detected as follows. Multiple kinds of capture oligonucleotides immobilized on a base material and including: an oligonucleotide having a nucleotide sequence complimentary to or identical to a nucleotide sequence corresponding to the target sequence in which all of C's other than C's in the all of CpG dinucleotide are replaced with T's; and an oligonucleotide having a nucleotide sequence complimentary to or identical to a nucleotide sequence corresponding to the target sequence in which all of C's are replaced with T's are hybridized with the sample DNA in which non-methylated C's have been converted into U's by deamination or an amplification product thereof, and the presence or absence of methylation is detected based on the result of the hybridization.

    摘要: An illumination system comprises a light source unit, a condenser lens, and a lens for constructing a telecentric optical system, and projects measuring light onto a specimen to be measured, from an angle tilted by a prescribed angle relative to the normal to the specimen. A light receiving system is an optical system comprising the lens, a light receiving lens, and a light receiving sensor and, of the reflected light produced by reflection of the measuring light, the light receiving system receives reflected light rays reflected in a direction whose angle to the normal to the measuring surface is 0°. In this way, the telecentric optical system is constructed by placing the lens in the light paths of the illumination system and the light receiving system; with this configuration, the projection angle of the measuring light to the curved specimen and the receiving angle of the reflected light from the curved specimen, respectively, can be made the same within the curved surface of the specimen.

    摘要: A two-way optical communication module is provided with: a first optical wave-guide including a light emitting element 2 for emitting a light with wavelength &lgr;1, a curved wave-guide portion (optical wave-guide 6) coupled to the light emitting element 2, and a straight wave-guide portion (optical wave-guide 8) coupled to a core 11 of an optical fiber 4; a second optical wave-guide including a light receiving element 3, a curved wave-guide portion (optical wave-guide 7) coupled to the light receiving element 3, and a straight wave-guide portion (optical wave-guide 9) coupled to a clad 12 of the optical fiber 4; and a directional optical coupler 10 which includes the optical wave-guides 8 and 9 and which guides the light with wavelength &lgr;1 from the optical wave-guide 6 to the core 11 and the light with wavelength &lgr;2 from the core 11 to the optical wave-guide 7. A leakage light can be guided out of the two-way optical communication module through the clad 12, thus suppressing occurrence of a stray light reflected irregularly therein.
