Abstract:
Provided herein, among other things, is an assembly comprising a pin or a piece of jewelry and a transponder affixed thereto. The transponder can be a very small, light-triggered transponder (“MTP”).
Abstract:
A carbon dioxide capture facility is disclosed comprising packing formed as a slab, and at least one liquid source. The slab has opposed dominant faces, the opposed dominant faces being at least partially wind penetrable to allow wind to flow through the packing. The at least one liquid source is oriented to direct carbon dioxide absorbent liquid into the packing to flow through the slab. The slab is disposed in a wind flow that has a non-zero incident angle with one of the opposed dominant faces. A method of carbon dioxide capture is also disclosed. Carbon dioxide absorbing liquid is applied into packing in a series of pulses. A gas containing carbon dioxide is flowed through the packing to at least partially absorb the carbon dioxide from the gas into the carbon dioxide absorbing liquid.
Abstract:
Disclosed are polymers of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose acetate succinate (HPMCAS) and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose acetate (HPMCA) with unique degrees of substitution of hydroxypropoxy, methoxy, acetyl, and succinoyl groups. When used in making compositions comprising a low-solubility drug and such polymers, the polymers provide enhanced aqueous concentrations and/or improved physical stability.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for delivering precursor materials to a processing chamber is provided. In one embodiment, a deposition apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a chamber having a longitudinal axis, and a gas distribution assembly coupled to a sidewall of the chamber. The gas distribution assembly comprises a plurality of plenums coupled to one or more gas sources, an energy source positioned to provide energy to each of the plurality of plenums, and a variable power source coupled to the energy source, wherein the gas distribution assembly provides a flow path through the chamber that is normal to the longitudinal axis of the chamber.
Abstract:
A turbine stage includes a row of airfoils joined to corresponding platforms to define flow passages therebetween. Each airfoil includes opposite pressure and suction sides and extends in chord between opposite leading and trailing edges. Each platform has a scalloped flow surface including a purge trough commencing tangentially in a blend area of the platform. The purge trough extending axially toward the suction side of the airfoil, aft of the leading edge, to channel a purge flow.
Abstract:
Methods include one or more of robotically positioning a cutting element on an earth-boring tool, using a power-driven device to move a cutting element on an earth-boring tool, and robotically applying a bonding material for attaching a cutting element to an earth-boring tool. Robotic systems are used to robotically position a cutting element on an earth-boring tool. Systems for orienting a cutting element relative to a tool body include a power-driven device for moving a cutting element on or adjacent the tool body. Systems for positioning and orienting a cutting element on an earth-boring tool include such a power-driven device and a robot for carrying a cutting element. Systems for attaching a cutting element to an earth-boring tool include a robot carrying a torch for heating at least one of a cutting element, a tool body, and a bonding material.
Abstract:
A method of gaming comprising: outputting a plurality of different game accompanying sounds individually during at least part of play of one or more games; and outputting two or more sounds together in response to at least one game event occurring.
Abstract:
System and method for verifying compatibility of computer equipment with a software product. A system and method are provided to verify compatibility of computer equipment with software. This verification can include gathering information about configurations of the computer equipment, and creating at least one file based on the information. The file or files coordinate testing of the computer equipment. The testing produces results that can be stored and analyzed or evaluated. The results can be contained in a file or a plurality of files. The results provide a description of the configurations in addition to an indication of whether the testing has produced any failures. The configuration descriptions or parts thereof can be stored in a configuration database that can be used to apply credit against future testing of computer equipment so that future testing needs can be reduced.
Abstract:
Light scattered by a portion of a fluid medium illuminated by a beam of substantially monochromatic light is received within a field-of-view nominally along an axis oriented in a different direction relative to the beam and processed by an interferometer to generate a corresponding fringe pattern that is detected and processed to generate at least one measure of the fluid medium at a plurality of different ranges.
Abstract:
A terrain disruption device includes an air or gas flow generation device mounted on a remote operated vehicle having an extendible arm, wherein the air or gas flow generation device includes an elongate (optionally detachable) ducting arrangement to direct the air or gas flow and an optional nozzle. The air or gas flow generation device and/or the elongate ducting arrangement may be mounted on the extendible arm. Preferably, the air or gas flow generation device is powered by a fan, more preferably an electric ducted fan.
