摘要： An internal combustion engine having at least one variable volume combustion chamber with an intake passage leading thereto, an ignition element for igniting an air/fuel mixture in the chamber, an exhaust passage leading therefrom and including a catalyst in communication therewith, and an emission control for controlling the emission content is disclosed. Preferably, the emission control comprises a mechanism for closing the intake passage leading to the chamber in the event an engine abnormality is detected and an engine ignition misfire mode is employed, thereby preventing the emission of unburned air and fuel into the exhaust passage leading to the catalyst.

摘要： An engine operation control system for an engine having at least one variable volume combustion chamber with an ignition element corresponding thereto and an exhaust port for controlling the flow of exhaust from the chamber is disclosed. Upon detection of an engine overheat condition, the operation control system operates to advance the timing of the firing one or more of the ignition elements and misfiring these elements, whereby engine cooling is achieved without backfire.

Specifically, a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater controls a fuel flow regulating valve at an engine's charge forming device. A multipolar generator is used as an exclusive power source for the PTC heater. The arrangement of the invention has a relatively simple construction and can be used with propulsion units which do not have batteries.

摘要： A protection system for a two-cycle outboard motor engine having a separate lubricant storage tank. The protection system generally includes a sensing device associated with the lubricant storage tank for detecting a low lubricant level condition, a first circuit for producing a speed reduction signal in response to the detection of this condition, a second circuit for gradually reducing the speed of the engine in response to the speed reduction signal even though the engine throttle control may be set for a higher speed, and a switch for manually terminating this speed control. The first circuit includes a controlled conduction device for maintaining the presence of the speed reduction signal after the low lubricant level condition is no longer present until the switch is actuated.
