Abstract:
Glycan arrays that can detect and distinguish between various sub-types and strains of influenza virus are provided. Methods for using the glycan arrays with assays using nanoparticle amplification technique are disclosed. Sandwich assays using gold nanoparticles conjugated to phage particles comprising influenza virus-specific antibodies for detecting multiple serotypes using a single reaction are provided. Plurality of glycans directed to specific target HA of influenza virus comprises the array. Detector molecules comprising noble metals conjugated to (a) phage display particles expressing antibodies against hemagglutinin and (b) neuraminidase binding agents are disclosed.
Abstract:
Method of regulating the stability and/or the level of the fusion protein PLZF/RARA are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for identifying an agent as a regulator of the stability and/or the level of the fusion protein PLZF/RARA. Methods for identifying a therapeutic agent for treating PLZF/RARA-associated acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a graphene film and a graphene channel of transistor. The graphene film is prepared at a low temperature by using molecular beam epitaxy technique, and the graphene channel is able to fit into a transistor. The excellent characteristic of current modulation within graphene transistors is observed.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for performing mass spectrometry of a nanoparticle or virus analyte. Apparatus may include a laser desorption plate, a mass analyzer configured to measure mass over the range of m/z from 105 to 1010, an electrical shield surrounding the mass analyzer, and a charge sensitive detector, wherein the laser firing is phase lock synchronized with the applied radiofrequency voltages.
Abstract:
Antibodies binding to junction regions between the CH4 and CεmX domains of membrane-bound IgE and uses thereof in treating IgE-mediated diseases such as allergic diseases.
Abstract:
Virus-like particles (VLPs) of mammalian-hosted viruses, such as SARS-CoV and influenza viruses, have been recombinantly produced from Vero cells. The VLPs closely emulate the exterior of authentic virus particles and are highly immunogenic. They can elicit not only humoral but also cellular immune responses in a mammal. Compositions and methods related to the VLPs are also described.
Abstract:
A purified monoclonal antibody, or an. antigen-binding portion thereof, which specifically binds to human clathrin heavy chain (CHC) is disclosed. The antibody, or antigen-binding portion, thereof, exhibits at least one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, or all eight of the following properties: (a) specifically binds to pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells; (b) binding to the cell surface and cytosol of cancer cells and tumor blood vessels; (c) internalized by CHC-expressing cells; (d) inhibiting tumor growth, invasion ability, migration, and angiogenesis; (e) inducing apoptosis in cancer cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells; (f) inhibiting tumor growth and tumor blood vessels in pancreatic cancer in vivo; (g) suppressing epidermal growth factor, transferrin, and VEGF internalizations by cancer cells; and (h) suppressing hypoxia-inducible factor-1α expression and vascular endothelial growth factor secretion. Methods for inhibiting tumor cell growth and/or angiogenesis, and detecting cancer in a subject is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A social activity planning method includes the following operation. A database storing multiple candidate invitees with their geographical locations and interest scores towards a topic, and a social graph including vertices representing the candidate invitees and edges connecting two vertices representing mutual acquaintance of the associated candidate invitees is accessed. A social activity request including an invitation number, information about a social activity, and a familiarity condition for the social activity request is received. At least one feasible solution including the invitation number of the candidate invitees and meeting the familiarity condition is generated. A group of selected invitees are found based on the feasible solution and the information about the social activity.
Abstract:
A novel pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of formula (I) is disclosed. The novel compound can include a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The invention further comprises methods for making compounds of formula (I) using Dbv29, and to the use of compound of formula (I) to treat bacterial infections.
Abstract:
A method for treating cancer includes administering to a subject in need thereof an antibody against a transmembrane and coiled-coil domains protein 3 (TMCC3), wherein the antibody binds to an epitope in an extracellular domain of TMCC3. The antibody binds to an epitope in an intercoil domain of TMCC3. A method of diagnosing or assessing a cancer condition includes assessing a level of expression or activity of a transmembrane and coiled-coil domains protein 3 (TMCC3) in a sample, wherein an increase in the level of expression of activity of TMCC3 as compared to a standard indicates the presence of cancer stem cells in the sample.
