When the antenna receives the particular signal associated with the RFID device, the RFID device causes the switch to close and connect the sensor in the circuit with the antenna to enable the measurement generated by the sensor to be directed to and transmitted by the antenna.

Arrangement and method for monitoring a tire mounted to the vehicle in which a thermal radiation detecting device detects the temperature of the tire at different circumferential locations along the circumference of the tire. The detected temperatures of the tire are analyzed to determine, for example, whether a difference in thermal radiation is present between the circumferential locations of the tire, and if so, an action is effected in response to the analysis. The thermal radiation detecting devices are preferably supplied with power wirelessly, e.g., through an inductive system, a capacitive system or a radio frequency energy transfer system.

One or more tank load cells provides an output proportionally representing the load thereon. The load cells are placed between a portion of the tank and a portion of a reference surface of the vehicle and are sensitive along an axis that is substantially normal to the mounting surface and generally parallel to the yaw axis of the vehicle. A processor executes a derived relationship between the load cell output and the volume of fuel in the tank so as to convert the output signal from the load cell into output information representative of the volume of the fuel in the tank.

System and method for analyzing motion of occupants of the vehicle in which a wave-receiving system receives waves from spaces above seats of the vehicle in which the occupants would normally be situated and a processor coupled to the wave-receiving system determines movement of any occupants based on the received waves. The wave-receiving system may be arranged on a rear view mirror, in a headliner, roof, ceiling or windshield header, in an A-Pillar or B-Pillar, above a top surface of an instrument panel, and in connection with a steering wheel or an airbag module. The processor can be programmed to determine the location of the head, chest and/or torso of any occupants. If it determines the location of the head of any occupants, it could monitor the position thereof to determine whether the occupant is falling asleep or becoming incapacitated.
