Abstract: A transmitting/receiving system and a data processing method of the same are disclosed herein. The receiving system may include a receiving unit, a first processing unit, and a second processing unit. The receiving unit receives a broadcast signal including mobile service data from at least one slot. The first processing unit acquires FIC segments divided from an FIC chunk of at least one sub-frame. Herein, each FIC segment comprises a 2-byte segment header and a 35-byte segment payload. The segment header includes an FIC type information, a number of a corresponding FIC segment, and a number of a last FIC segment among the FIC segments divided from the FIC chunk. The second processing unit obtains the FIC chunk including signaling information between at least one ensemble and at least one mobile service from respective payloads of the FIC segments, based upon the acquired FIC type information, number of the corresponding FIC segment, and number of the last FIC segment of each FIC segment.

Abstract: A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are disclosed. A receiving system of the digital broadcasting system includes a receiving unit, an SI handler, and a decoding unit. The receiving unit receives broadcast signals including mobile service data and main service data. The mobile service data configure a data group, and the data group includes a signaling information region in some of a plurality of data regions. The signaling information region may include TPC signaling data and FIC signaling data. The SI handler acquires channel configuration information of the mobile service data from the broadcast signal using pre-decided IP access information, and extracts encoding format information for each IP stream component within a corresponding virtual channel service RTP-packetized and received from the acquired channel configuration information. The decoding unit decodes the mobile service data of the corresponding IP stream component based upon the extracted encoding format information.

Abstract: A method is provided for processing broadcast data in a broadcast transmitter. Broadcast service data is randomized. The randomized broadcast service data is first-encoded to add parity data to the randomized broadcast service data. The first-encoded broadcast service data is second-encoded. The second-encoded broadcast service data is first interleaved. The first-interleaved broadcast service data is second-interleaved. Signaling data is encoded for signaling the broadcast service data. The encoded signaling data is third-interleaved. The third-interleaved signaling data is fourth interleaved. A frame is transmitted that is divided into a data region including the second-interleaved broadcast service data, a first signaling region including the fourth-interleaved signaling data and a second signaling region that includes at least one symbol that is used for synchronization and channel estimation. The frame includes known data. The encoded signaling data includes information for identifying the code rate and information related to the known data.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting digital broadcast signal are provided. The apparatus includes a group formatter to format a data group including mobile service data, where the group formatter further maps the mobile service data into a data group of interleaved format, adds N training sequences into a corresponding location of the data group of interleaved format, adds signaling data into the data group of interleaved format, inserts place holder bytes for MPEG header and non-systematic Reed-Solomon (RS) parity into the data group of interleaved format, and deinterleaves the mobile service data in the data group of interleaved format, a non-systematic RS encoder to non-systematic RS encode the mobile service data in the formatted data group and insert non-systematic RS parity obtained from the non-systematic RS encoding into the formatted data group.

Abstract: A DTV transmitting system includes an encoder, a randomizer, a block processor, a group formatter, a deinterleaver, and a packet formatter. The encoder codes enhanced data for error correction, permutes the coded data, and further codes the permuted data for error detection. The randomizer randomizes the coded enhanced data, and the block processor codes the randomized data at an effective coding rate of 1/H. The group formatter forms a group of enhanced data having data regions, and inserts the coded enhanced data into at least one of the data regions. The deinterleaver deinterleaves the group of enhanced data, and the packet formatter formats the deinterleaved data into corresponding data bytes.
