Abstract: An injector for injecting a reagent into an exhaust stream includes an outer tube extending through an electromagnet and surrounding an inner tube. A first end of the inner tube is sealingly fixed to an inner surface of the outer tube. A guide member and an orifice plate are each sealingly fixed to the inner surface of the outer tube. A second end of the inner tube is aligned by the guide member. A moveable valve member includes a pintle head guided by the inner surface of the outer tube to align the valve member with an orifice extending through the orifice plate.

Abstract: A snap-action valve assembly for an exhaust system and a method for manufacturing the same is provided. The valve assembly includes a first conduit and a second conduit that is partially received in the first conduit. A valve flap is disposed within the first conduit for controlling exhaust flow. A shaft supports the valve flap in the first conduit for rotation between open and closed positions. The first conduit has first and second slots, each extending from an open slot end to a closed slot end. First and second bushings subassemblies supporting the shaft are disposed within the slots between the second conduit and the closed slot ends. Each of the first and second bushing subassemblies includes an alignment system in the form of protrusions that limit insertion of the first and second bushing subassemblies into the first and second slot to a single orientation.

Abstract: A mixer assembly for treating exhaust with an injected reductant as the exhaust flows through an exhaust gas passageway includes a tubular shell and a rod. A first end and a second opposite end of the rod are fixed to the shell. The rod has a serpentine shape with a plurality of parallel extending portions interconnected by curved portions. The curved portions are positioned proximate an inner surface of the shell such that the rod traverses the exhaust passageway. The mixer assembly is positioned such that the rod is directly impinged by reductant injected into the exhaust gas passageway.

Abstract: A shock absorber for a vehicle is disclosed which has a pressure tube defining a fluid chamber, a piston rod, and a piston disposed within the fluid chamber, and carried on the piston rod, which divides the fluid chamber into upper and lower working chambers, and which has a plurality of passages extending between the upper and lower working chambers. A valve disc assembly controls a flow of fluid, and includes a spring disc. The spring disc has a non-symmetrical circumferential shape which enables a stiffness of the valve disc assembly to be tailored so that it begins to open at a first peripheral point, and continuously gradually opens about a non-symmetrical circumferential path until reaching a second peripheral point adjacent the first peripheral point.

Abstract: A particulate sensor assembly may include a particulate sensor and a sensor housing. The particulate sensor may be configured to measure a quantity of particulate matter in a stream of exhaust gas from a combustion engine. The sensor housing may receive the particulate sensor and may include a cavity in which the particulate sensor is exposed to the exhaust gas. The cavity may be defined by a porous structure through which the exhaust gas may flow. The porous structure may filter a predetermined amount of particulate matter from the exhaust gas as the exhaust gas enters the cavity.

A second mixing device is separate and downstream from the first mixing device and includes a second auger blade. The second mixing device includes an inlet having a second cross-sectional area greater than the first cross-sectional area. A plurality of flow paths created by the first mixing device are recombined into a single flow path between the first and second mixing devices. A longitudinal center line of the first mixing device is offset from a longitudinal center line of the second mixing device.

Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment system for reducing emissions from an engine includes an exhaust conduit adapted to supply an exhaust stream from the engine to an exhaust treatment device. The conduit includes an aperture. An injector injects a reagent through the aperture and into the exhaust stream. A flow modifier is positioned within the exhaust conduit upstream of the injector. The flow modifier increases the velocity of the exhaust gas at a predetermined location within the conduit relative to the injected reagent.

Abstract: A damper system and method for a vehicle includes a shock absorber and a damper module. The shock absorber includes a plurality of digital valves. The shock absorber is operable at one of multiple damping states based on a valve state of the digital valves. The damper module is coupled to each of the digital valves and controls each of the digital valves to a desired state based on a damper setting. The damper module determines a target damping state, where the target state is one of the multiple damping states. The damper module performs a switch operation to control the valve state of the plurality of digital valves to a given desired state when the target damping state is different from a present damping state.

Abstract: A shock absorber for a vehicle includes a pressure tube that defines a fluid chamber and a piston disposed within the fluid chamber. The piston divides the fluid chamber into an upper working chamber and a lower working chamber, and defines a compression passage and a rebound passage. A valve disc assembly of the shock absorber engages the piston and controls the flow of fluid between the upper and lower working chambers. The valve disc assembly includes a check disc and an orifice disc. The check disc is disposed between the piston and the orifice disc. The orifice disc defines an orifice, and the check disc prohibits the flow of fluid through the orifice as the fluid flows in a first direction and permits the flow of fluid through the orifice as the fluid flows in a second direction opposite of the first direction.

Abstract: A shock absorber is disclosed having a pressure tube forming a working chamber, and a piston assembly slidably disposed within the pressure tube. The piston assembly may divide the working chamber into upper and lower working chambers. The piston assembly may have a piston body defining a first fluid passage extending therethrough and a first valve assembly controlling fluid flow through the first fluid passage. A second fluid passage, separate from the first fluid passage, extends from one of the upper and lower working chambers to a fluid chamber defined at least in part by the pressure tube. A plurality of digital valve assemblies are included and configured to exclusively control all fluid flow through the second fluid passage, and thus all fluid flow between the one of the upper and lower working chambers to the fluid chamber.
