Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, kits and systems are disclosed that allow a transfer of medication from a manufacturer's vial, ampoule or other container through a closed system transfer to an intravenous apparatus and into a patient, while reducing additional steps, procedures, components required for the same transfer procedure to reduce sources of human error and medical administered errors.
Abstract:
A vial adapter is provided with a fitting portion which can be fitted into the head portion of a vial, and a hollow needle with a side hole. The base end portion of the needle is provided with a stopper contact portion which contacts the top surface of a stopper when the fitting portion is fitted in the head portion of the vial. When the fitting portion is fitted in the head portion of the vial, the stopper contact portion contacts the top surface of the stopper, and the fitting portion is fixed to the head portion of the vial by a claw engaging with the head portion of the vial, and further, the region of the side hole nearest the base end portion of the needle is positioned either roughly at the bottom surface of the stopper or inside of the stopper.
Abstract:
A production method for producing a transport and transfer receptacle for at least one fluid medium, for example, for at least one sterile liquid is proposed. The method comprises supplying at least one container for receiving the fluid medium. At least one energy unit is supplied. The energy unit effects—for example, complete—emptying of the fluid medium from the container when the transport and transfer receptacle is used. The fluid medium is introduced into the container and the container is closed. The fluid medium is charged with positive pressure, for example, using the energy unit. The positive pressure is maintained until the fluid medium is removed. Furthermore, a transport and transfer receptacle which can be produced according to the production method and which has at least one packaging is proposed.
Abstract:
A device connecting a recipient closed by a perforatable stopper and a container for a needle, comprising a base for mounting the container, the base defining a central bore and comprising means for mounting on the recipient, the needle pertaining to a subset engaged in the central bore forming part of the device, for mounting on the container, and being arranged in the central bore parallel to the bore's longitudinal axis, and a sealing sleeve arranged in the central bore, around the needle and in contact therewith, the base being a single component and comprising a body for perforating the stopper extending from an intermediate wall of the base, away from the central bore and parallel to its central axis, up to a distal end, the perforating body being hollow and the inner space thereof communicating with the central bore and with a space radially surrounding its distal end.
Abstract:
A fluid transfer assembly including a vented female vial adapter and male vial adapter for use with a pair of vials including a vial with contents under negative pressure for liquid drug reconstitution and administration purposes. The vented female vial adapter includes a venting arrangement and the male vial adapter includes a sealing arrangement for selectively sealing the venting arrangement. The fluid transfer assembly is designed such that only filtered air is drawn into the vial under negative pressure subsequent to reconstitution of liquid drug contents to ensure sterile conditions.
Abstract:
A dosage dispensing cap and container assembly and method of use are disclosed. The assembly includes a container defining an opening that leads to an interior space. A cap is removably affixed over the opening and defines a channel that leads to the interior space. The cap includes a puncturing structure positioned at a bottom region of the channel. A plunger is slidably disposed within the channel and includes a sleeve portion and a dosage product housed within the sleeve portion. The plunger slides within the channel between a first position in which the plunger is located in an upper region of the channel, and a second position in which the plunger is located in a lower region of the channel and the dosage product contacts the puncturing structure.
Abstract:
A method of combining a drug in a first container and a liquid in a second container includes placing the first container and the second container in fluid communication with a housing, combining the liquid and the drug in the first container, transferring the liquid and the drug from the first container to the housing, and transferring the liquid and the drug from the housing to a third container.
Abstract:
A coupling component is disclosed for transmitting medical substances, comprising two channels for conveyance of medical substances in two substantially opposite directions and a means for releasable connection to a second coupling component having a further channel for creating a coupling. The connecting means is a thread. A method for conveying medical substances to and from a container is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A transfer device for pharmaceuticals comprising a housing which has an open bottom permitting insertion of a vial within the housing, a piercing member mounted within the housing and having an interior passageway formed therein, a connector for a syringe located on top of the housing, and a moveable member mounted within the housing, the moveable member being moveable from a first position preventing access to the piercing member and a second position permitting access to the piercing member when the vial is inserted in the housing.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an adapter which comprises a base having a container attachment portion on a first side and a needle hub attachment portion on a second side opposite the first side. The adapter includes a puncturing member extending along a first axis for entering a container inserted into the container attachment portion. The adapter includes a channel extending substantially along the first axis from the needle hub attachment portion, through the base and along the puncturing member to an axial outlet at, or adjacent, a tip of the puncturing member. The adapter is configured so that a needle comprising a shaft extending from a hub can be inserted into the adapter such that the hub engages the hub attachment portion and the shaft extends through the base and within the puncturing member.
