    摘要: There is provided a control system for a powertrain system including an electro-mechanical transmission operative in a plurality of fixed gear modes and continuously variable modes. The control system is adapted to identify preferred operating conditions for operating the powertrain in a fixed gear operating range state. The method comprises determining a range of permissible input torques. States for input torque are iteratively selected, and a motor torque output from the first electrical machine is optimized based upon the selected state for the input torque. A motor torque output from the second electrical machine is determined based upon the optimized motor torque output from the first electrical machine. A cost for each of the iteratively selected states for the input torque and the motor torques from the first and second electrical machines is calculated. A preferred operating range is identified based upon the plurality of costs.

Power loss contributions come from a variety of sources including engine power losses. Engine power losses are determined in accordance with engine operating metrics such as power production per unit fuel consumption and power production per unit emission production. Engine power losses are combined in accordance with assigned weighting into a single engine power loss term for use in the power loss minimization control and operating point selection.

    摘要: There is provided a method and an article of manufacture comprising a storage medium having machine-executable code stored therein for estimating a power loss for an internal combustion engine at a point in time. The code includes code to determine engine operating conditions. A nominal power loss is determined based upon an engine operating point. A power loss correction to the nominal power loss is determined based upon barometric pressure, engine temperature, air/fuel ratio, and catalyst temperature. The power loss correction is determinable for: an engine air/fuel ratio mode, an engine cylinder activation mode, and, an engine operating temperature mode.
