    摘要: Provided are enophile functionalized polymer particles, nano-sized inorganic metal particles such as Al(OH)3 particles, and preparations thereof. Also provided is a method of improving the properties of a rubber composition, such as a tire, by formulating the rubber to incorporate nano-sized inorganic metal particles such as Al(OH)3. The composition exhibits improved properties including bonding rubber, tensile strength, tear strength, and wet traction, among others. A novel rubber composition comprising nano-sized inorganic metal particles is also disclosed.

The polymer nanoparticle comprises a core polymerized from multiple-vinyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbons, a shell polymerized from alkyl-substituted styrene, and a polystyrene layer between the core and the shell. The present invention also provides a method of preparing the polymer nanoparticles and a rubber article such as a tire manufactured from a formulation comprising the polymer nanoparticles.

    摘要: A reaction product is prepared by reacting a first polymer having pendant or terminal carboxyl or anhydride groups with a second polymer (e.g. elastomer) having an amine containing terminal group. The second polymer is anionically polymerized. The second polymer is functionalized by reacting the growing anionic chain end with an imine. Then a protic terminating agent terminates the growing chain end. The first and second polymers are reacted by mixing (desirably above their softening temperatures) and forming a blend with improved physical properties over a blend of similar polymers lacking a reactive amine group.
