摘要: A device for automatically delivering a drug to a user and method thereof are disclosed. The device (10, 20, 70, 110) provides a connector to which a vial (12, 50, 60, 100, 130, 202) containing the drug is removably connected and situated thereto in a substantially inverted position. When commanded by the user, the device (10, 20, 70, 110) starts a reconstitution process to automatically create a reconstituted drug, and provides an indication that the reconstitution process is complete such that the vial (12, 50, 60, 100, 130, 202) may be removed from the connector (22, 72,112). After disposing the device (10, 20, 70, 110) on the user, the device (10, 20, 70, 110) can automatically deliver the reconstituted drug to the user when further commanded by the user.

摘要: A container and method for storing a pharmaceutical agent are provided for enhancing the storage time. The storage time of the pharmaceutical agent is improved by reducing the loss of stabilizing agents in the pharmaceutical agent. The storage container is formed from a polyolefin that includes a stabilizing agent in an amount effective to reduce or inhibit the migration of stabilizing agents in the pharmaceutical agent. The polyolefin container is formed with a fatty acid amide such as erucamide for stabilizing insulin that contains m-cresol and/or phenol as stabilizing agents for the insulin. The fatty acid amide incorporated in the container inhibits and/or reduces the rate of migration of the m-cresol and/or phenol into the polyolefin to extend the storage life of the insulin. The container can be a syringe, such as a pre-filled syringe, a storage vial or the flow path of an infusion pump.

摘要: A reconstitution assembly includes a housing including a lower sleeve and an upper sleeve, including a first container and a second container disposed vertically opposite the first container. A transfer set assembly is disposed within the housing between the first container and the second container. The transfer set assembly includes an upper spike housing and a lower spike housing, with a flow path defined through the upper spike housing and the lower spike housing. The transfer set assembly is configured to access contents of the first container and then upon the activation of a triggering mechanism, create a fluid pathway between the first container and the second container. The triggering mechanism includes trigger fingers which ensure the transfer set assembly sequentially accesses the contents of the first container before accessing the contents of the second container. The disposition of the first container activates the triggering mechanism.

摘要: In certain embodiments, a vial adaptor for removing liquid contents from a vial includes a piercing member and a bag. The bag can be contained within the piercing member such that the bag is introduced to the vial when the vial adaptor is coupled with the vial. In some embodiments, the bag expands within the vial as liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, thereby regulating pressure within the vial. In other embodiments, a vial includes a bag for regulating pressure within the vial as liquid is removed therefrom. In some embodiments, a vial adaptor is coupled with the vial in order to remove the liquid. In some embodiments, as the liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, the bag expands within the vial, and in other embodiments, the bag contracts within the vial.

摘要: A transfer and mixing device which utilizes a by-pass cartridge and a syringe. After mixing the dry component and the diluent in the by-pass cartridge, the mixture can be passed to a syringe which includes a syringe plunger having a fluid passageway therein with a hydrophobic membrane covering the passageway. The mixture can be transferred back and forth between the by-pass cartridge and the syringe through a small bore to achieve mixing, particularly in the case of microspheres held in suspension.

摘要: The invention provides a system for preparing an autologous solid-fibrin web suitable for regenerating tissue in a living organism. The system includes a sealed primary container containing a separation medium and a low-density high-viscosity liquid. The separation medium is capable of separating red blood cells from plasma when the container contains blood and is centrifuged, and the primary container has a first pressure. The system further includes a sealed secondary container containing a calcium-coagulation activator. The secondary container has a second pressure that is less than the first pressure. The system also includes a transfer device having a cannula with a first end and a second end. The first and second ends are adapted to puncture the sealed primary and secondary containers in order to provide fluid communication between the first and second containers.
