Abstract:
The invention concerns a fuel for diesel engines, with a sulphur content of less than 500 ppm containing in a major proportion at least one average distillate from a straight-run distilling cup of crude oil, with temperature ranges between 150 and 400° C. and in a minor proportion a lubricating additive containing monocarboxylic and polycyclic acids. The said fuel is characterized in that it contains at least 20 ppm of the additive consisting of at least one monocarboxylic aliphatic hydrocarbon, saturated or unsaturated, of linear chain between 12 and 14 carbon atoms, and at least one polcyclic hydrocarbon compound, containing at least two cycles each formed of 5 to 6 atoms one of which at most is optionally a heteroatom such as nitrogen or oxygen and the other atoms are carbon atoms, these two cycles having further two carbon atoms in common, preferably vicinal, these said cycles being saturated or unsaturated, substituted or non-substituted by at least one single grouping selected among the carboxylic, amine carboxyl, ester and nitrile groupings, the fuel containing more than 60 ppm of additive when the said combination is tall oil.

Embodiments of a composition useful as a fuel or fuel additive are provided. Certain disclosed embodiments of the composition comprise mid to low flash point naptha, at least one alcohol having a ratio of between about 1 to about 4 carbon atoms to 1 hydroxyl functional group, at least one lubricating oil, and at least one oxygenated natural aromatic compound, wherein the oxygenated natural aromatic compound has a flash point between about 60° C. and about 160° C., has at least one oxygenated functional group, and is soluble in the composition.

An environmental protection synthetic low sulphur fuel oil that uses a proportional mixture of vegetable oil and a catalyzing enzyme (decane, 11 alkane, 12 alkane) as a substitute for high polluting high grade diesel oils to achieve required flash point and reduce sulphur content, and which can be used as a green environmental protection additive agent to high grade diesel oil, thereby achieving the objective of providing a method that effects environment protection.

The present invention relates to gasoline or a gasoline and ethanol blend fuel compositions that have improved oxidation stability. More specifically, the gasoline or a gasoline and ethanol blend fuel compositions include at least one antioxidant that increases the oxidative stability of the fuel. The gasoline or a gasoline and ethanol blend fuel compositions may also include an antioxidant mixture, or an antioxidant mixture in combination with a polar and/or nonpolar solvent, that increases the oxidative stability of the fuel.

Esters formed from polyol, C12-C28 branched chain fatty acid, and/or C12-C28 cyclic fatty acid are useful as a friction modifier for lubricants. Monomer is a preferred source for these fatty acids.

Improved fuel compositions and fuel additive packages are disclosed which serve to increase the combustion efficiency of conventional fuels while reducing the level of CO2 emissions generated upon the combustion of the fuels. The fuels may be essentially water-free hydrocarbon fuels such as gasoline or diesel fuel, or may be in the form of hydrosols. The additive packages of the invention include sorbitan oleate, a polyoxyethylene alcohol, an alkylene glycol, and an amine.

[Problem] To produce a biodiesel fuel modifying agent of biodiesel fuel (BDF) such as methyl-esterified fuel. [Means for Resolution] A biodiesel fuel modifying agent characterized by ozone treatment of vegetable oil such as sunflower oil, rapeseed oil and soybean oil is provided. By adding this biodiesel fuel modifying agent to biodiesel fuel (BDF), the pour point of the biodiesel fuel can be decreased significantly. Therefore, the present invention makes the biodiesel fuel amenable for use even in cold regions etc. In addition, by adding the biodiesel fuel modifying agent according to the present invention to the biodiesel fuel, engine performance of a diesel engine, particularly, torque and horsepower at revolutions of low speed can be improved.

A lubricity additive for fuels with sulphur content of not more than 0.05 wt % is described herein. The lubricity additive comprises a polyol ester or a mixture of polyol esters derived from C8-C18 saturated and/or unsaturated fatty acids. The polyol esters is produced by: i) esterification of a C8-C18 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids, or a mixture thereof, with a polyhydric alcohol; ii) transesterification of an oil or a mixture of oils, with fatty acid composition comprising C8-C18 saturated and/or unsaturated fatty acids, with a polyhydric alcohol. The preferred fatty acids are unsaturated C18 fatty acids, more particularly, oleic acid whereas the preferred polyhydric alcohol is neopolyol, more particularly, trimethylol propane and its isomers. A fuel composition comprising a major amount of fuel with sulphur content of not more than 0.05 wt % and a minor amount of the lubricity additive is also described herein. The amount of the lubricity additive is not more than 0.1 wt %.

Fuels, especially hydrocarbon fuels, and lubricants, especially lubricating oils, contain a class of anti-corrosion, anti-fatigue, and anti-wear additives that are derived epoxidized esters of fatty acids. Epoxidized 2-ethylhexyl tallate is particularly effective.
