    Abstract: An optical test instrument, in combination with a removable connector cartridge is provided. A method of replacing a damaged or worn optic fiber interface is also provided. The optical test instrument has casing having a cartridge receiving cavity therein with an inner end provided with a test instrument optical port; and an outer end provided with a cartridge receiving opening. The connector cartridge is sized and configured to be inserted in the cartridge receiving cavity. The connector cartridge has a cartridge inner end for facing the test instrument optical port when in use, and a cartridge outer end for receiving an optic fiber from a device under test (DUT). The connector cartridge houses a fiber optic cable extending between the cartridge inner end and the cartridge outer end. The connector cartridge is removably connectable to the instrument casing to allow replacement of the connector cartridge when the cartridge outer end is worn or damaged.

    Abstract: An optical sensor module and a packaging method thereof are disclosed, wherein the optical sensor module comprises a substrate having a light sensing element; and a housing made of a transparent material. The housing is connected to the substrate and covers the light sensing element. The housing has a light-receiving area facing the light sensing element, and the inner surface of the housing toward the substrate is provided with a light-shielding coating in a portion outside of the light-receiving area. In this way, optical components such as the light sensor can be effectively protected, and still retain the effect of avoiding noise light interference with the light sensor module.

    Abstract: An antenna for a smart sensor device includes a generally circular, substantially rigid substrate and a radiative antenna element integrated with the substrate. According to one embodiment, the antenna element is a primary cellular antenna arranged to pass signals at frequencies between 600 MHz and 3 GHz. According to another embodiment, a second radiative antenna element may be integrated with the substrate. In such a case, the second antenna element may be arranged to receive location-based signals from satellites or operate as a cellular diversity antenna arranged to receive cellular signals present in proximity to the antenna. The substrate may include at least one interruption (e.g., aperture or lens) arranged to permit light to reach an area inside the sensor device that would otherwise be shielded by the substrate. In such a case, the radiative antenna element(s) may be integrated with the substrate so as to avoid the interruption.

    Abstract: One or more embodiments are directed to ambient light sensor packages, and methods of making ambient light sensor packages. One embodiment is directed to an ambient light sensor package that includes an ambient light sensor die having opposing first and second surfaces, a light sensor on the first surface of the ambient light sensor die, one or more conductive bumps on the second surface of the ambient light sensor die, and a light shielding layer on at least the first surface and the second surface of the ambient light sensor die. The light shielding layer defines an opening over the light sensor. The ambient light sensor package may further include a transparent cover between the first surface of the ambient light sensor die and the light shielding layer, and an adhesive that secures the transparent cover to the ambient light sensor die.
