Provided is a buried ridge waveguide laser diode that has improved temperature characteristics and can reduce optical loss by a leakage current. The buried ridge waveguide laser diode includes: a ridge region that extends vertically with a constant width and is composed of a selective etching layer and a first compound layer formed of a first conductive type material on a portion of the clad layer; and a p-n-p current blocking layer that has a thickness identical to the depth of the ridge region on the clad layer outside the ridge region and includes a second compound layer formed of a second conductive type material opposite to the first conductive type material. At this time, the current blocking layer includes the first compound layer extending on the second compound layer.

A strain measurement system includes a tunable light generator, a coupler, a fiberoptic sensor unit, and an optical detector. The tunable light generator includes a Super Luminescent light emission Diode (SLD), and a tunable Fabry-Perrot (FP) filter cascaded to an output terminal of the SLD to convert light having a wideband spectrum into discrete optical signals. The coupler receives and distributes the optical signals and passes them to a wavelength compensation device which detects wavelengths of the optical signals. The fiberoptic sensor unit receives the optical signals from the tunable light generator through the coupler and transmits a response signal corresponding to a variation of strain attributable to load. The optical detector detects the response signal output from the fiberoptic sensor through the coupler.

There is provided a channel estimating apparatus and method in a radio communication system. In the channel estimating apparatus, a fading estimator estimates a channel using preset symbols of an input signal, a first interpolator interpolates the other symbols of the input signal based on the fading estimation, a first inverter inverts the output signal of the first interpolator, a first delay delays the input signal for a predetermined time, a first multiplier primarily compensates the output signal of the first delay by means of the output signal of the first inverter, a second interpolator interpolates each symbol of the input signal relating to primarily compensated symbols in a predetermined period before and after the symbol, a level controller controls the level of the output signal of the second interpolator, a second inverter inverts the output signal of the level controller, a second delay for delays the primarily compensated signal for a predetermined time, and a second multiplier secondarily compensates the output signal of the second delay by means of the output signal of the second inverter.

The present invention is related to the cold rolled steel sheet for making a shadow mask of a cathode ray tube of a color Braun tube for selecting colors and a manufacturing method therefor. Objects of the present invention are to enable production of a cold rolled steel sheet by one-step cold rolling and low-temperature annealing rather than by the conventional two-step cold rolling and decarburization annealing, and to provide a cold rolled steel sheet for a shadow mask and the manufacturing method therefor having better etchability and formability which are required for the material for a shadow mask than those of the conventional cold rolled steel sheets. The manufacturing method of the cold rolled steel sheet of the present invention is comprised of the steps of homogenizing the aluminum killed steel, which is composed in weight % of less than 0.002% of C, 0.20-0.45% of Mn, 0.015-0.020% of S, less than 0.02% of P, less than 0.01% of Si, 0.01-0.03% of Cr, 0.01-0.02% of Al, 0.0010-0.0020% of O, more than 100 of Mn %/C %, in the range of 5-20 of Al %/O%, in the range of 10-30 of Mn %/S %, a balance of Fe, and other unavoidable impurities, in the temperature range of 1,100-1,250.degree. C.; hot rolling in the finish rolling temperature range of 900-950.degree. C.; coiling in the temperature range of 720-750.degree. C.; cold rolling in the reduction ratio range of 75-85%; and low-temperature annealing in the non-recrystallization temperature range of 540-640.degree. C.
