    摘要: A valve timing control apparatus includes a housing that is rotatable with a crankshaft; a vane rotor that is rotatable with a camshaft; and a phase controller to compulsorily change a rotation phase of the vane rotor alternately between an advance side and a retard side with respect to the housing if an engine shifts to a high rotation state after the engine continuously has a low rotation state for a predetermined period or more. The engine in the low rotation state has a rotation speed lower than a predetermined rotation speed. The engine in the high rotation state has a rotation speed equal to or higher than the predetermined rotation speed.

    摘要: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is employed for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. The control apparatus includes a variable valve operating mechanism which changes a valve characteristic of an engine valve; a valve stop mechanism which stops opening/closing of the engine valve in at least one cylinder; and a controller which executes a variable valve control that makes an actual value of the valve characteristic match a target value by executing a hydraulic pressure control for the variable valve operating mechanism, and which operates the valve stop mechanism so that a reduced-cylinder operation is performed when an engine operating state is in a preset reduced-cylinder operation region. If it is determined that a pressure of hydraulic fluid supplied to the variable valve operating mechanism satisfies a preset condition when the engine operating state is in the reduced-cylinder operation region, the controller prohibits the variable valve control.

    摘要: A variable valve timing mechanism changes a relative rotation phase of a camshaft to a target phase based on hydraulic pressure supplied to an advance and a retard sides pressure chambers. A lock mechanism is placed in a locked state in which the relative rotation phase is locked at a maximum retard phase when the hydraulic pressure in the advance and the retard side pressure chambers is low, and that is placed in an unlocked state in which the locked state is released when the hydraulic pressure becomes high. Hydraulic pressure regulations in a first mode that changes the relative rotation phase to a side toward the maximum retard phase and in a second mode that changes the relative rotation phase to a side away from the maximum retard phase are executed in combination during a period from when an operating switch is turned off until a crankshaft stops rotating.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a plurality of variable valve timing mechanism (VVTs), each corresponding to one of a pair of banks. When an abnormality is detected in a VVT corresponding to one of the banks, the valve closing timing of the intake valves during starting of the engine in the bank corresponding to the normally functioning VVT is adjusted to valve timing that increases the power generated by combustion compared to the engine power generated during normal starting of the engine. Specifically, the valve closing timing of the intake valves during starting of the engine in the bank corresponding to the normally functioning VVT is brought closer to the bottom dead center of the intake stroke of the engine. As a result, deterioration of the starting performance of the engine due to the abnormality of the VVT is compensated for.

    摘要: To start an internal combustion engine at appropriate intake valve close timing. A valve timing regulation system 10 regulates oil pressure supplied to advance chambers and retard chambers formed by a vane 29 and a housing 28 to advance or retard the vane 29 and change the open/close timing of the intake valve. The position of the vane 29 is fixed by inserting a lock pin 43 into an advance-side engagement hole 49A at the most advanced position. Engine stopping is effected so as to set the vane 29 at the middle position, while starting when the coolant temperature is low is effected after rotating the crankshaft backward by a prescribed angle to fix the vane 29 at the most advanced position and is effected when the temperature is high merely by cranking to fix the vane 29 at the most retarded position. Cold starting is easy when effected at the most advanced position because the compression pressure is high, while vibration at warm starting is reduced when starting is effected at the most retarded position because the compression pressure is reduced.
