摘要： A lighting system includes a panel having an edge, the edge having a thickness defined between a front surface of the panel and a back surface of the panel, the panel configured to propagate light therein. The lighting system further includes a first light emitting diode (LED) light source and a second LED light source disposed in serrated arrangement along the edge of the panel so that light emitted from respective light emitting surfaces of the light sources impinges on the edge of the panel and enters the panel through the edge and so that the light emitting surfaces lie in respective planes that are not parallel.

A light-emitting device may include an interface through which emitted light passes therethrough. The interface having a dielectric function that varies spatially according to a pattern, wherein the pattern is arranged to provide light emission that has a substantially isotropic emission pattern and is more collimated than a Lambertian distribution of light.

摘要： Illumination systems, which include at least one light source (e.g., LED and/or laser diode), light sensor, and a power source are described. In certain embodiments, a light sensor and a microprocessor are used to detect light emitted by a light source and to adjust the power signal provided to the light source at least partially based on the detected light. Some embodiments may enable the color point and/or brightness of the emitted light to be controlled at least partially based on the detected light. The illumination systems may be designed to be used as a liquid crystal display (LCD), general lighting apparatus, or any other illumination device.
