摘要： A lighting system includes a panel having an edge, the edge having a thickness defined between a front surface of the panel and a back surface of the panel, the panel configured to propagate light therein. The lighting system further includes a first light emitting diode (LED) light source and a second LED light source disposed in serrated arrangement along the edge of the panel so that light emitted from respective light emitting surfaces of the light sources impinges on the edge of the panel and enters the panel through the edge and so that the light emitting surfaces lie in respective planes that are not parallel.

The package can also facilitate the integration of the light-emitting devices in various components and systems. For example, suitable packages may facilitate the use of light-emitting devices in components and systems such as light-emitting panel assemblies, LCD back lighting, general lighting, decorative or display lighting, automotive lighting, and other types of lighting components and systems.

摘要： A light-emitting device is provided. The device may include a thermally conductive region in contact with a wavelength-converting region (e.g., a phosphor region). The thermally conductive region may aid in the extraction of heat resulting from light absorption in the wavelength-converting region, which, if excessive, may impair device operation. The presence of a thermally conductive region can enable devices including wavelength-converting regions to operate even at high power levels (e.g., light generated by the light-generating region and/or by the light-emitting device having a total power greater than 0.5 Watts) for long operating lifetimes (e.g., greater than 2,000 hours).

In certain embodiments, a light sensor and a microprocessor are used to detect light emitted by a light source and to adjust the power signal provided to the light source at least partially based on the detected light. Some embodiments may enable the color point and/or brightness of the emitted light to be controlled at least partially based on the detected light. The illumination systems may be designed to be used as a liquid crystal display (LCD), general lighting apparatus, or any other illumination device.
