摘要： An optical unit as used for an optical sensor, including a substrate, one or more optical elements fixedly supported by the substrate, and an protecting arrangement associated with the substrate and at least one of the optical elements, for protecting each associated optical element from thermal stresses exerted thereto due to a difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the substrate and the associated optical element. The protecting arrangement may consist of at least one intermediate body interposed between the substrate and the associated optical element. Each intermediate body has a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of the associated optical element. Alternatively, the protecting arrangement may consist of a constricted protecting portion such as protrusions or slots formed on one of the associated optical elements and the substrate, such that the protecting portion defines an adjoining interface between the optical element and the substrate, or is located adjacent to the adjoining interface.

摘要： Disclosed is a fiber coil reel 100 associated with an optical fiber 10 wound therearound to make a predetermined number of turns to be used for an optical fiber gyroscope comprising a fiber coil composed of the lengthy optical fiber 10 to make the predetermined number of turns, a coupler 22 for optically coupling an optical fiber 16 led from a light source to an optical fiber 20 to be led to a photodetector, and an optical IC chip arranged between the fiber coil and the coupler 22 and including a phase modulator and a polarizer mounted on an optical waveguide, wherein a space for winding the lengthy optical fiber 10 around the outer circumference is provided, and a through-hole 102 is provided at the central portion, through which a support shaft 74 of an assembling jig 70 is rotatably inserted. Accordingly, the optical fiber gyroscope can be assembled with ease, and it is possible to effectively reduce the production cost of the optical fiber gyroscope.

摘要： An apparatus for displaying a three-dimensional image of a plurality of tomographic images by storing pictorial information of a tomographic image in an image convering element, forming interference fringes between a reading light beam which is transmitted through the image converting element and is modulated in accordance with the pictorial information stored therein and a reference light beam, and recording the interference fringes on a photographic plate. A three-dimensional image is reproduced by projecting the reference light beam onto the thus developed photographic plate. The image converting element is formed by a Pockels readout optical modulator. An intensity and position of a coherent light beam is modulated in accordance with the pictorial information of the tomographic image, and the thus modulated coherent reading light beam is made incident upon the Pockels readout optical modulator.

摘要： An optical unit or an optical sensor through which a light beam is propagated in a predetermined direction, having an optical component which includes at least one first single crystal element each having a property of causing dextrorotation of a plane of polarization of the light beam during propagation of the beam, and at least one second single crystal element each having a property of causing levorotation of the plane of polarization of the light beam. The first and second single crystal elements are superposed on each other in a direction perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the beam. The single crystal elements may be bonded together by direct solid-solid reaction, or by diffusion of a material of a thin bonding film interposed between the adjacent single crystal elements. The single crystal elements also exhibit a magnetooptical or Faraday effect when used in a magnetic-field sensor, for example.

A common connecting passage and branch connecting passages which are connected to the common connecting passage are provided. Each of the branch connecting passages opens into the respective intake port located downstream of the corresponding throttle valve. Another common connecting passage is provided. The branch mixture passages located upstream of the throttle valves are interconnected to each other via the other common connecting passage.

摘要： A jig for producing optical parts comprises a base stand for stacking ten individuals of fiber coil reels around which optical fibers are wound in a predetermined number of turns respectively, and array-holding mechanisms provided on a circumferential surface of the base stand, for downwardly exposing respective end surfaces of arrays secured to ends of the plurality of optical fibers led from the respective stacked fiber coil reels. Accordingly, it is possible to highly accurately polish the end surfaces of the array members secured to the ends of the optical fibers led from the plurality of reels respectively. It is possible to eliminate almost all dispersion in polishing accuracy among the array members, and it is possible to produce the optical parts highly accurately with a good yield.
