Abstract: A thin plastic light guide is formed to have cavities on one surface and TIR (total internal reflection) structures directly above the cavities. LEDs mounted on a printed circuit board are positioned hi the cavities. The cavity walls are shaped to refract the LED light and direct the LED light toward the TIR structures to most efficiently make use of the TIR structures. The TIR structures may have a cusp or cone shape. The top ceiling of the cavities may be shaped to direct light at the TIR structure so as to leak through the TIR structure and blend the light with light leaking through surrounding portions of the light guide. The LEDs may be distributed only near the edges of the light guide or over the entire back surface of the light guide. A diffuser sheet may be laminated over the light guide to further mix the light.

Abstract: Systems, methods and devices are for optical imaging are described. A system includes a light source and a light detection unit. The light source includes a light-emitting device and a first spectral filter opposite the light emitting device. The first spectral filter includes at least one dielectric filter and has a first angular dependence of a transmission passband. The light source further includes at least one reflector adjacent side surfaces of the light emitting device. The light detection unit includes an optical sensor and a second spectral filter opposite the optical sensor. The second spatial filter has a second angular dependence of a transmission passband that is matched to the first angular dependence.

Abstract: A light emitting diode array module includes a plurality of light emitting diode structures. The light emitting diode structures are arranged such that there is an optical cross talk between the light emitting diode structures during operation of the light emitting diode array module. At least a first light emitting diode structure of the plurality of light emitting diode structures is characterized by a first color. At least a second light emitting diode structure of the plurality of light emitting diode structures is characterized by a second color different than the first color. The first color, the second color, and the optical cross talk between the light emitting diodes are arranged to provide a predefined light distribution in a reference plane perpendicular to an optical axis of the light emitting diode array module. A lighting device can include one or more LED array modules.

Abstract: Described herein is source sensitive optic that uses reconfigurable chip-on-board (CoB) light emitting diode (LED) arrays as light sources. In an implementation, the reconfigurable CoB LED array includes a predetermined number of LEDs that are configurable for a variety of illumination scenarios. In an implementation, the reconfigurable CoB LED array is multiple CoB LED arrays that are configured for use with the source sensitive optic as described herein. The source sensitive optic includes surface shapes that are responsive to the reconfigurable CoB LED array. The source sensitive optic is configured to provide beam profile and radiation pattern differentiation based on a CoB LED array configuration configured from the reconfigurable CoB LED. Each configurable CoB LED array configuration radiates a different beam pattern via the surface shapes due to proximity and surface shape geometries.

Abstract: An apparatus projecting light onto a projection surface comprises: a substrate having disposed thereon two or more LED clusters and two or more micro-lenses, each LED cluster comprising a plurality of LEDs and each of the micro-lenses being disposed the plurality of LEDs. Each of the LED clusters is arranged to emit light through each of the micro-lenses in a pattern of dots. A center of at least one LED cluster is off-set from an optical center of the micro-lens of its LED cluster. A projected image includes arrangements of individual dots and/or areas of smooth light resulting from the pattern of dots.

Abstract: The invention refers to a lighting device comprising at least one light emitting diode (LED). The object to provide a lighting device that is capable of providing a light pattern for illuminating an object in 3D imaging, wherein the lighting device is simple and cost-effective to manufacture, while the lighting device may in addition have a very small form factor, is solved in with a lighting device comprising: at least one LED for emitting light towards a light-emitting side; a first grating with a regular pitch having light-blocking sections and light-permeable sections; wherein the first grating is arranged on the light-emitting side to block the passage of light at the light-blocking sections, such that the light passing the light-permeable sections is capable to illuminate an object with a line pattern. The invention further corresponds to a method for producing a lighting device and the use of a lighting device.

Abstract: A lighting system is described that includes a first lighting device, a second lighting device and a pattern element. The first lighting device includes at least one individual light-emitting element configured to emit light with a first beam profile. The second lighting device includes at least one individual light-emitting element configured to emit light with a second beam profile such that a third beam profile, different from the first beam profile and the second beam profile, is provided as a combination of the first beam profile and the second beam profile.
