摘要: A control system including a microprocessor for controlling the controlled variables of an internal combustion engine, especially, the flow rate of fuel is disclosed. An air flow meter provides an output signal having such a non-linear characteristic relative to the flow rate of intake air that the signal level increases in the region of the small flow rate of intake air. The microprocessor carries out necessary digital computation on the basis of the output signal of the air flow meter to provide a fuel flow rate control signal. This digital control signal is converted into a signal having a linear characteristic proportional to the flow rate of intake air, or after having been produced from the microprocessor, converted into a signal including information proportional to the flow rate of intake air.

摘要: An intake barrel connected to an intake pipe of an internal combustion engine is provided therein with a venturi member. Openings are formed in the wall of the intake barrel at the upstream and downstream sides of the venturi member. A bypass passage forming member provided with a groove of a length greater than the distance between said openings is fixed to the outside of the intake barrel. A bypass passage is formed by these openings and the groove. A spacer is interposed between the intake barrel and the bypass passage forming member. The cross-sectional area of the bypass passage can be varied by varying the thickness of the spacer.

摘要: An air flow meter comprises an air velocity measuring resistor and a temperature compensating resistor and is installed in a bypass passage provided at an intake passage running through an air horn. The air velocity measuring resistor and the temperature compensating resistor are supported by lead wires whose portions exposed in the bypass passage have the same length. A cover forming the bypass passage is made of heat insulating synthetic resin material to prevent heats from being transmitted to the resistors.

摘要: A fuel feeding apparatus for internal combustion engines, of the type having a heat-type air flow meter disposed in a bypass air passage detouring an air-intake passage, an air metering valve adapted to be actuated by a proportional type electromagnetic device to control the flow rate of air in the bypass air passage substantially at a constant level in response to the output signal from the heat-type air flow meter, and a fuel metering valve adapted to be actuated by the proportional type electromagnetic device simultaneously with the control of air flow rate by the air metering valve. A pulsation suppressing means is disposed in the bypass air passage to suppress the pulsation of air pressure in the latter thereby to decrease the measurement error in the heat-type air flow meter.

摘要: Air flowing through an air cleaner is passed through a main passage and drawn into an internal-combustion engine, with a part of the air flowing through the main passage flowing into a by-pass passage having an air flow sensor mounted therein. A length of the by-pass passage is substantially three or more times longer than that of a part of the main passage corresponding thereto. Accordingly, even when the internal-combustion engine is operated with a throttle nearly totally open and the air in the main passage is pulsated, the average flow rate in the by-pass passage increases due to the inertial lag effect obtained by lengthening the by-pass passage, so that it is possible to prevent the output of the flow sensor from being undesirably lowered.

摘要: An air to fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine having a fixed venturi type carburetor is disclosed. The air to fuel ratio control system comprises a device for extracting an atmospheric pressure within a venturi or a pressure corresponding to a relieved venturi vacuum, a device for extracting a static fuel pressure downstream of a main jet provided in a fuel path, a device for comparing those pressures directly or indirectly and a device for controlling the static fuel pressure in accordance with an output of the detecting device. Control is made such that the difference between those pressures is always maintained substantially constant. The air to fuel ratio control system may further comprise a device for detecting composition of exhaust gas of the engine. An output of the composition detecting device is applied to a control device which controls the static fuel pressure based on the output of the differential pressure detecting device and the output of the composition detecting device.

摘要: The engine disclosed features an engine cylinder provided with an air intake valve, an injector having a fuel injection port which is directed towards an interior of the engine cylinder, and a control unit which is connected to the air intake valve and to the injector, the control unit effecting changes in the air intake amount by controlling the degree of opening of the air intake valve, and, also, controls the air/fuel ratio by changing the amount of fuel supplied by the injector. The engine also has an exhaust valve in the engine cylinder such that the control unit controls the intake valve and the exhaust valve so that an opening period of the intake valve is overlapped with an opening period of the exhaust valve at least when the opening period of the intake valve is maximum. The period of the overlap is longer when a relatively large amount of air is required than when a relatively small amount of air is required. According to such a scheme, the amount of the air can be changed by the lift of the intake valve. By changing the lift, the overlap with an exhaust valve is also changed. During the high-output or power operation, the period of overlap between the exhaust valve and the intake valve is made longer. When engine torque decreases to a level lower than the target engine torque, the air amount is adjusted by the cam or the throttle valve.

摘要: In an A/F ratio sensor of mixture supplied for an internal combustion engine, which has a detector for detecting the concentration of residual oxygen in exhaust gas and determines the A/F ratio by retrieving an air excess ratio table with an output of the detector, there is further provided an additional air introducing device, which introduces a predetermined quantity of air into the engine for a certain period of time, under the condition that the velocity of air flowing through a throttle valve is equal to the sonic velocity. The oxygen concentration detector is calibrated by the comparison of the outputs thereof before and after introduction of the additional air. According to this invention, the A/F ratio of the mixture can be detected accurately without the influence of the aged deterioration of the oxygen concentration.
